“No, I invited you for dinner, so I’ll get it. You can get it next time, okay?”

The restaurant wasn’t overly busy, so Blake paid quickly and escorted me to the car where Kaine was waiting, sitting in the driver’s seat, messing around on his phone and looking bored.
“Hey, Kaine. Kade isn’t feeling that great, so we are going to skip the movie. Just back to his house, please.”
The same as before, we spent the drive in silence as I lost myself in my thoughts. I mentally berated myself for my treatment of my wolf. They deserved better. Not it. They. We pulled up at the house, and Blake moved to get out of the car. “Actually, I think I need to be by myself tonight. I’m sorry.”
Blake looked crushed, but pushed it aside quickly. “It’s okay. Can I see you tomorrow?”
“I’ll call you.” I pressed a kiss to his lips and retreated inside my cozy home, locking the door and closing the curtains to the outside world.
