He is right. It's not that I want to ignore my business, but I can't seem to focus on it or make it a priority.

“You have strived hard from your childhood not just to make your name in the world but also to prove to Jhanvi that you are worthy to be her life partner. Do you think she’ll be happy seeing you ruining it all now?” Aman adds.

I relate to each and every word Aman tells me this moment because he is right. I might not want to come out of my grief but my daughter deserves better. She is the only one I have after Jhanvi and I’ll not disappoint her. Aman has been handling the company for two years in my absence and I can’t push him more. He has his personal life too. He’s been slogging to cover up for me there and its high time I take off that burden from his shoulders.

“So, Aarav Raichand, are you ready to restart your life?” Aman begs with hope in his eyes that I don’t disappoint him.

I nod, taking one last swig of brandy.

“What’s the status of the company?” I inquire and Aman gets his answer.

He promptly updates me on the development, and I'm amazed at how much I've missed out on over the last two years. It wasn't that I didn’t pay attention. Aman had kept me up-to-date with every new thing happening in AR Group but I left it to him for taking the major decisions as I wasn’t in the sane mind to do so. Now that Aman tells me everything, I already see what loopholes we have and how to prevent them.

“All this is just to start with,” Aman sighs. “But the most recent problem is the RS Group of Companies.”

I lean back on the couch, listening intently.

“They are new in our list of rivals. Ratan Singh, an entrepreneur in his sixties, started the company, and his son Rudra Singh serves as CEO. This company has grown tremendously over the last two years, and it is now one of the top ten in the country, with a large number of clients from the United Kingdom and the United States. And most of the credit goes to Rudra's girlfriend, who works at the same company in a high-level position. In fact, she is the one in charge of dealing with problematic competitors and kicking them out of the race. She has chosen the AR Group as her target this time.”

Okay. Sounds intriguing.

“Her name is Khushi Thakur. She is the driving force behind all of the company's changes in terms of competition. This woman appears to be pretty clever and intelligent to be working with such high-powered groups in their ascent to the top.”

“Impressive,” I murmur, formulating how to handle this situation.

“RS Group is celebrating their 10thanniversary this weekend and they have sent us an invitation too. Rudra Singh and Khushi Thakur are both here in Mumbai for this event though all these years they have operated from the USA headquarters. I've even heard that until they take over AR Group, they have no plans to return anytime soon.”

“Let them dream, Aman,” I smirk. “No one can touch my company till I am alive, no matter how close they think they are.”

Aman smiles back.

“Finally, it feels like Aarav Raichand is back.”

I don’t reply to that.

“Daddy.” Aarvi appears with her Teddy bear. “Look what happened to his nose.”

She frowns showing me her teddy's broken nose.

“I'll ask Mumma to get me a new one when she comes back home.”

My heartbeat quickens. I still haven't told Aarvi that Jhanvi would never come back to us. That she is no longer a part of our life. Aman instantly summons Aarvi and hands her a bar of chocolate.

“l forgot to give you this, Aarvi. Do you like this one?” He diverts her or rather, that diversion was for me. After getting me so close to focusing on the company again, he doesn’t want me to go back in my grieving mode.

Aarvi gratefully accepts the chocolate from him, thanks him, and returns inside to play.

“Aarav,” Aman’s voice breaks my daze. “It’s high time you tell Aarvi about Jhanvi. She is keeping high hopes of her mother’s return.”

“No,” I snap. “She is too young to understand this.”

“I know but-”

“No, Aman. Under no circumstance, I am telling my daughter that her mother is dead. Not yet..”

“Fine.” Aman nods. “So, you are attending the party this weekend.”

“I don’t think I want to,” I negate.
