Maybe she is right. I’ve to give some time to come to a strong conclusion.

Aarvi returns to the room with an orange. She wants me to peel it and feed her. And just like that, our topic shifts.

*****************

Jaya is at AR Mansion with Amaya when I reach home. As soon as Aarvi sees Amaya, she rushes to play with her.

“They are already best friends,” I mutter.

“Like us.” Jaya hugs me.

Yea. Like us. I truly love Jaya’s company and we are making some fresh memories for us. She is the only one with whom I don’t have to think about how my past connection has been. It’s like our friendship never got hampered. It’s still the same.

“Where had you been?”

“Raichand Mansion. To see Daadi.”

“Oh, how is she?”

We take our seats on the couch while keeping an eye on Aarvi and Amaya who begin to play with the toys.

“She is good. I needed some clarity on my decisions and thought she could guide me. She did shed some light but I don’t think I’ve found my answers yet.”

“You’ll get them soon. Stop stressing over this because there’s something else you need to worry about.”

I am instantly alert.

“I eavesdropped on Aman and Aarav’s phone conversation last night. You were right. Sikand Charity Trust is in deep trouble.”

“What trouble?”

“Funds,” she sighs. “After the news of your accident, the Trust already faced a lot of issues handling the administration, and turning more eyes on the cause to raise funds became difficult. Aarav too was in grief and started handling things at a much later stage. But things started turning critical in the past few months. I don’t know if you know this but Aarav is already diverting a lot of his personal profit from AR Group to the Trust. So whatever cause you were working on there, is still intact and nothing hampers the normal functions of the Charity Trust. Recently, he is juggling between operating AR Group and the Trust together, and that’s affecting his health. Do you know he’s even skipping his meals at work? Aman was arguing with him not to do that and appoint someone else who can take over the Trust operations but Aarav is not willing to do so.”

I am stunned by this information. Aarav is really doing too much to support the cause that I started. Even in my absence, he didn’t let anything happen to my Charity Trust. That shows his dedication and love towards anything and everything related to me. Despite knowing I am back he didn’t pressurize me to take over my responsibility there. I should have been the one to step ahead and take that burden off his shoulders whereas I dropped the bomb of wanting to go to New York instead.

We are still talking when Jaya’s phone buzzes. She checks the message and her eyes pop out in worry.

“It’s Aman’s message. Aarav… Aarav met with an accident,” she reads the message and my heart skips a beat.

I snatch her phone to read the same and it feels like my whole world is coming down crashing. Panic courses through my body.

“Oh my God. Call.. call Aman and … ask him where they are? I.. I have to go to Aarav.”

I am already on my feet by the time I finish my sentence. Aarav met with an accident? How? I know he drives safe. Even when drunk he drives well then how can he meet with an accident? Can it be his stress? I know. It’s because of Stress. He’s been under a lot of stress lately. Work, my Charity Trust issues and most importantly the stress of my decision to go to New York. My husband is bearing all this alone but not anymore.

“Jaya… look after Aarvi. I am going to him.. Where .. where is my phone?”

Why can’t I see anything properly? Tears? I am crying? I don’t care.

“Jhanvi, stop.” Jaya grabs my hand. “You don’t have to go anywhere. Aman said he and Aarav are already on their way home. They’ll come here any moment. Relax. Aarav is fine. I’m sure he is fine. You are shivering, Jhanvi. Come here. Sit down.”

“Jaya, I have to go see him. Aarav is..” I try to get her arm off mine so I could leave, but she drags me to the couch again.

“He is fine.” She assures me again before holding a glass of water before me. “Drink some water. They will be here any moment now. Okay? Relax.”

“Call them.. Just.. call them now. I need to speak to Aarav.”

It feels like my heart is sinking. Just the message that Aarav met with an accident has done something to my mind and heart and I get all these weird feelings as if my life is coming to an end. I can’t sit here and wait for him.
