“Keeping fingers crossed.”

My wife seems to be on a roll tonight. When Mohit opens the car door for Daadi, I slide my arm around Jhanvi’s slender waist.

“What’s going on, Jaan? It’s like more than me, you are updated with everything happening between the family members.”

“That’s because you were utilizing that time to punch the man who kept us away for two years.”

I don’t understand. Jhanvi slides her arm too around my waist.

“Sophia was telling me yesterday in the hospital that she and Mohit are planning to start a family. They are going for a proper checkup tomorrow to ensure they can. Just some regular follow up. That’s it. You were with Akash and Aman kicking and punching Rudra when this conversation happened. I heard you were even about to pull a bullet in his head.”

A muscle in my jaw flexes. Who told Jhanvi about the bullet thing?

“Aman told me.” Jhanvi reads my unsaid query and cupping my jaw, she kisses my rough stubble. “Don’t trim this. It’s perfect.”

I smile wider.

“I won’t trim it even if you want me to.”

Her eyes flare at my declaration and especially when I bend to kiss her lips.

“They are still here.” Jhanvi reminds me, giving me a gentle nudge before turning to Daadi and Mohit who are finally inside the car. We both wave at them and once they are gone, we get back in the house.

I suddenly remember about her medical reports which she had collected from the clinic yesterday before her car brakes failed. They were still in the car which I sent for servicing today and before doing so, I managed to pull out the reports and read them.

“Your medical reports have come good.”

Her eyes twinkle with joy.

“You mean the drug didn’t have any adverse effects on my body?”

“No,” I nod. “You are medically fit and there are still chances of your memories returning since you have stopped that drug now.”

A satisfied smile leaves her lips.

“That calls for a celebration then.”

“It does.” I snuggle closer against her, as close as I can get, dragging her scent into my nose when Jhanvi pulls away.

“You had a call with Akash tonight.”

I know. Just a casual call to know how the police investigation was proceeding with Rudra. I’ve heard his father Ratan Singh has taken a flight back to India as soon as he was told about his son’s crimes. No matter how much money or influence he uses to bring him out, I am not letting that happen. Though Jhanvi believes Ratan Singh is a man of codes and can never support a crime even if it means breaking every tie with his son. I hope he sticks to that.

“That can be pushed to the morning.”

I give her neck an open-mouthed kiss which makes her giggle but she doesn't give in yet.

“No, Mr. Raichand. You are going to make that call now while I get ready for sleep.”

“Jaan-” I growl as she puts distance between us.

“Go” she urges, pushing me to the drawing room and I sigh in frustration.

I hope by the time I finish the call and return; she isn’t asleep and is waiting for me in bed.

Fifteen minutes and I manage to wind up the call with Akash. The moment I disconnect I see a message on my phone from Jhanvi. Why is she messaging me from the bedroom? I still open it and that one-word message inside makes my heart pound against my chest.

‘Ceasefire’
