This word!! It’s our code word. This was the word we used to convey to each other when we were fully turned on and wanted to end up in each other’s arms on the bed again, ceasing the fire burning in our bodies by making love.

How did she remember this suddenly? Or did her memory return? My feet automatically take the stairs. I hurry to the bedroom while my mind recalls how Jhanvi has been acting like her old self today with the family, bonding with them like she knows them from ages. How she asked about the Kheer which Daadi made specially for us whenever we had family dinner at Raichand Mansion. How she was casual and cool towards Mohit’s gestures. It all points to one thing. My wife’s memories have returned and she didn’t tell me that until now.

I push the door of my bedroom open and find Jhanvi standing at the dressing mirror in the same red nightgown which I loved the most on her. A thrill goes through me as she turns around and smiles. My heart expands inside my chest until there’s no room for anything else. I’m so full of emotions and love that I can’t even breathe.

“You got your memories back?” I ask, reaching closer and she shakes her head affirmatively, acknowledging my query.

“One accident took my memories away, the other one brought them back.”

Other one? She’s talking about the brake failing of her car? I recall how her head had hit the steering wheel and was bleeding yesterday when I pulled her out from the car. She was also in major shock and had fallen unconscious. Did that trigger her memories?

A thrill goes through me as she cups my cheeks.

“Your Jaan is back, Aarav. From her heart, body and memories.”

Her voice comes out in the barest of whispers. It feels like I am flying and falling all at once. She kisses me softly but I pull her hair to look at her face again. Tears cloud my vision. It’s like a dream believing Jhanvi’s memories have returned.

“You got your memories yesterday and you are telling me now?” I mutter.

“Wanted to surprise you.”

I pull her to me again, our foreheads touching as I shut my eyes, letting my tears fall.

“I went nuts living without you for two years, Jaan. Never leave me again.”

“Never,” she promises, writhing at my touch and then showers ample kisses on my face. It is then that I realize she too has tears rolling down her cheeks.

I stroke them away at once.

“Ceasefire.”

My voice turns dark and she knows when that happens. I needed to explore her at this very moment. It’s the last tangible word I speak which she hears tonight because just a fraction of a second later I bend down, carry her in my arms and flung her on the bed. Jhanvi has always been the best thing that has happened to me. She turned me, the Forbidden grandson of the Raichands into a loving and responsible family man. Her absence in my life might have taken me off the track for a while, but with Jhanvi on my side now and with her memories intact, she and I both knew we were inseparable for life again.

“Don’t expect me to go slow,” I inform her like the last time and all she does is squeal at my warning.

Discarding my clothes and tearing hers, I sink my teeth into every inch of her skin and soon make her see the stars. That’s the only way I know she likes me appreciating her body and one of the many ways I use to prove what she means to me. She was a blessing in my Forbidden life earlier and now a boon in my Fallen life.

EPILOGUE

Jhanvi

Six Months Later

We are already late to start for the event and according to my dear husband, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have looked so gorgeous in this maroon gown. The one which has now pooled at my feet and my husband isn’t even bothered about it as he walks me backwards until my back hits the wall. The same wall in our bedroom that has witnessed a string of our quickies over the last few months.

Today is the sixth anniversary of the Sikand Charity Trust, a charity I founded to assist and fund single moms and orphaned children. It's been a fantastic journey so far, and while experiencing equal highs and lows, my absence from administering it for two long years, when I had no memory, had no effect because Aarav paid adequate attention and kept the Trust running successfully. My team has organized a small event in the Taj Hotel tonight while Aarav is desperate enough for this quickie. His large palms stroke my hip bone as his lips kisses me slowly and seductively.

“I need you, Jaan.”

And I can hear his need in the tone of his voice.

“I’m all yours,” I whisper, nipping the outer shell of his ear. The moment he gets my confirmation, Aarav’s fingers fumble to discard the rest of our clothing before he slams inside me. Our lovemaking can never be monotonous. Every time we end up doing this, it gives us a bit more than the last time. Thankfully, Aarvi is very adamant about sleeping every night in her own room, the one adjacent to ours, ever since Aarav has renovated it. We gave her room a princess bedroom makeover, and she loves spending time there after school. Because she sleeps there every night, Aarav and I have ample time to satiate our desires and midnight love cravings. And yet it’s not enough.

Moments later, after we both fall over the edge of satiating the fire inside us, Aarav moves my hair away from my face to give me another kiss.

“This was the best quickie so far,”

“And quickest too,” I say, grinning back.
