I leave the café, and as I walk down the sidewalk, I feel eyes on me again. I turn right into an alley that I know will take me to the backside of my place. There are a few restaurants in the alley—I spot Armor. He’s one of the guys from the Satan’s Raiders MC and looks to be grabbing some pizza at one of the hole in the wall places that are in the alley.

“Hey, Armor,” I say as I stop and talk to him.

“Sunny, what are you doing on this side of town?”

“I met my friend for lunch but left a little early. Can I sit with you?”

“Yes, what’s going on?”

“While I was eating lunch with my friend, it felt like someone was watching me. I looked around and didn’t see anyone. The feeling wouldn’t go away, so I left. I was hoping getting away from the café would make me feel better. As I was walking down the sidewalk, the feeling was intense, so I turned down the alley, and here we are.” I shrug.

“Did you call Ice?” He takes a bite of pizza.

“No, I didn’t want to bother him. He said he was handling business this morning. It’s not that important to bother him.”

“I’ll call him because that’s some serious shit.” He wipes his hands off and pulls out his phone, and hits send. “Hey, Brother. I have Sunny with me. She needs you here . . . there’s some shit going on . . . I’m at Alley Pizza . . . thanks, Brother.” He hangs up and takes a bite of pizza. “He’s on his way.”

“Thank you. I hope he isn’t mad at me.”

“He would be pissed if you didn’t call him and tell him what’s going on. You’re important to him, Sunny.”

Ice gets there within ten minutes. Relief washes over my body because I know Ice would do whatever to keep me safe. I’m sure Armor would too, but I don’t have a history with him like I do Ice. I stand up, and Ice gives me a hug.

We sit down, and I tell him everything.

“I’m sorry, baby, that you’re feeling that way. We need to make sure to keep you safe. I’m glad that Armor was here.”

“Me too.”

“We’re having a party later tonight, and you should come.”

“I should go home and rest.”

“Come to the party. It’ll take some of the edge off.”

“All right. That sounds good.” I smile.

“Let’s go for a ride,” he says. He pulls me up from the bench and holds my hand as we walk to his bike.

He helps me on and off we go. Being on the back of Ice’s bike with my arms around him is like home. Almost nothing is better than this.

CHAPTERFOURTEEN

ICE

There’s a big party tonight at Satan’s Raiders MC clubhouse, and I somehow convinced Troy to come. Maybe it was so he could see that I was staying sober even though those around me weren’t. I wanted to show him that I was serious about staying clean. Plus, I told him Sunny would be here. He’s always liked her.

Once I think Sunny is relaxed from her ordeal earlier today, I go back to the clubhouse. We arrive at the club before the party is set to start.

“I’m going to freshen up, Ice. I’ll be right back down.”

“Okay, baby.” She kisses me, and I deepen our kiss. I run my tongue along her lips, begging for access. If I wasn’t expecting Troy to be here, I’d take her upstairs and show her what she does to me, but I want to make sure I’m downstairs when he arrives. I release her, and she smiles as she turns to walk upstairs.

I go to the kitchen and get aBarq’sRoot Beer out of the fridge and hang out with the guys until Troy shows up or Sunny comes back down.

“Hey, Ice.” Armor sits down beside me, nursing a beer.

“Brother, what’s up?”
