“Yes. I don’t want you to have regrets.”
Her eyes are intense as she leans in and presses her body against mine. I don’t have the resolve to resist her.
“I won’t.”
It’s fucking hard to turn her down, but this isn’t the right time for this to happen, no matter how much I want it. No matter how much she wants it too. “Lia, we can’t. Not now.”
“How is having… sex…” she whispers the word, heat rising in her cheeks, “any different to the other things we’ve done?”
I smile at her. “It is. Trust me. I want you to be sure, not reacting in the moment.”
Her brows draw together, creating a little dent between them. “Don’t tell me my own mind. Everyone has done that to me since I was born.”
“I’m not,” I say gently. “This isn’t about denying you choice.” I kiss her. “This is about the fact you are traumatised and upset, and I’m not going to take advantage of you when you’re feeling that way.”
She huffs out a breath as she snuggles against me. “Fine.”
“Trust me, Lia. When the time is right, I’ll be right here with you.”
“I’m going to hold you to that.”
