I look between the three of them. “When he gets to the office, none of you are going to do anything to scare him off. Agreed?” I ask. They all nod in agreement, even though Rian is reluctant.

This morningin the office has been unproductive. I’ve had a couple calls inquiring about our services and a meeting with Brandon to discuss the Love in Sight app, but that’s it. Brandon was his regular dismissive self. He and I have never really been friendly—we do our business and that's it, but his attitude toward me has turned hostile recently.

“Ms. Vanderhall, Mr. Nash is finished with Brandon.” Shayla’s angelic voice comes through the speaker on my phone. I had Greyson meet with Brandon first so he could explain the specifications of the app before signing the contract.

“Thanks, Shayla. Send him back to the meeting room please.” I shut my computer off and grab Greyson’s contract off the printer.Hopefully this goes well.

Greyson’s perfect jawline is visible from down the hall as I lock my office door. My heart is already beating out of my chest and I’m not even standing in front of him yet. I like to think of myself as a badass who doesn’t ever get nervous, but this man pushes that thought right out the window when he’s around.

I walk down the hall, trying to find my bravado before I have to face the gorgeous devil in the meeting room.Deep breaths, Lya.

“Hello, Greyson. Thank you for coming in today,” I say as I walk in the room. “I assume that Brandon caught you up on everything you need to know about the app.”

“He did.” He smirks.Okay, we are being short today.

I place the papers in front of him, spreading them out on the table as I explain each section of the contract. “When you are done looking over this, you can initial here”—I point to a spot on the paper—“and sign here.”

Greyson skims the contract and signs it before handing it back to me.

“So I saw that you took over your father’s accounting firm when he passed.” Greyson tenses as soon as the words leave my mouth. “How do you find the time to manage an accounting firm and run a dating site? I’m just asking because I heard that you do all of your own marketing and networking for Love in Sight.”

“Well, I hired someone to manage the firm. I don’t have any interest in accounting, but it feels wrong to sell my dad’s hard work, you know? I wouldn’t enjoy running the firm like I do with Love in Sight.” He runs his eyes over my face.

“I totally get it. I love my company and I wouldn’t want to do anything else. Sometimes I wish I could do more with actual coding and projects, but I’m not the type of woman to give up control,” I say. The fire in his eyes at my last statement sends a spark of electricity through my body. “Sorry, sometimes I don’t know when to shut up.”Why the hell did I just apologize? I don’t need to apologize for letting him know how it’s going to be.

“I like my women in control. No matter what they say, no one wants a woman that rolls over for them all the time,” he says in a voice that sounds like he’s joking. I can feel my cheeks heating. He is bold. How did we get here?I try to hold in my laugh, but I can’t help it, it just comes out.

“So are those guys your bodyguards or your paparazzi?” Greyson gestures towards the three muscled men standing across the hall. “They haven’t stopped staring since you got in here.”

I shake my head to release myself from my thoughts, looking in the direction he pointed. “They like to think they are,” I laugh. “The blond in the black suit is Zep, he runs security here. The other one in a black suit is Thiago, he’s our business and marketing man. The brunette in the gray suit is Rian, he’s a talented developer and my second in command around here.”

“They seem protective of you,” he says in an almost too calm tone.

“Yeah, well, we’ve… known each other a while.”He doesn’t have to know who they are to me yet, right?

I need to get him out of here before too much slips out and I scare him off. I grab the contract off the table and move to the door. “Well, now that you’ve signed this, I’ll walk you to the elevator.”

He doesn’t say anything, as he moves toward me like he owns the place. He grabs the door, letting me walk out in front of him. Of course, the guys are standing near the elevator when we arrive.

“Hey guys, this is Greyson Nash, our new client.” I gesture toward Greyson. “Greyson, this is Rian Priestly, Zep Cunningham, and Thiago Alves.” Greyson shakes hands with each of my men.

“Glad you chose VPAC Tech for your app. Lya here can handle any project thrown at her,” Rian greets him.

“Ms. Vanderhall has handled me perfectly,” he smirks. Rian’s face turns to stone, anger and confusion seeps from his eyes. “My app, I mean,” Greyson adds, but if I’m not mistaken, the look on Greyson’s face tells me he meant to rile the guys up.

“I’m sure.” I hear Rian say under his breath.

“Lya tells me you’re basically her second in command when it comes to all of the coding and designing?” Greyson casually says to Rian, dismissing his previous comment.

“Yes,Ms. Vanderhalland I usually like to work on projects together, because our minds are so in sync with each other. We can get projects done quickly, because we know what the other is thinking.” Rian smiles at me briefly, but quickly looks back at Greyson.

“I can tell. The success of the company shows you must be doing something right.” Greyson’s tone is slightly condescending.

Realizing this is about to become a pissing contest if it goes on much longer, I jump in. “Okay, you three, back to work.” I shoo them away and turn toward Greyson. “Well, it was nice seeing you again, Greyson.” I reach for his hand. As our hands connect, that same electric sensation travels up through my hand where his meets mine.

“Hopefully it won’t be the last time, Lya.” His eyes fall to my lips. I open my mouth, only to close it again as he turns and heads toward the elevator. That man is a mystery to me.
