If there was any doubt in my mind that this guy is Dice’s half-brother, I no longer do. Manuel Ibarra has the same unique eye color as Dice. Light brown with a blue ring. But where she is all feminine, Manuel is hard and sharp.

He looks at you like he knows your deepest secret and he’s just waiting for a moment to use it. Like a cunning diablo, the Vegas King watches for cracks and weaknesses in anyone who stands before him.

But I am the King of Chicago and while he is the half-brother to my weakness, I am the keeper of his weakness. Dice.

What would be the outcome if the two Kings went to battle? Let’s hope we never find out.

“More like pests than issues. Nothing that will affect our business.”

We stare at one another for a moment before he nods, “Who, may I ask, is giving you trouble?”

The way he asks lets me know he has more information. He has knowledge of my situation. Brian shifts in his seat behind the screen. Though I don’t look at him, I can easily feel the tension rolling off of him.

We don’t know how Ibarra will react to the news of his sister and if he will cause another set of trouble for me. We are the heads of a wealthy empire; people covet what we have. Does this Vegas ruler want to find weakness in me so that he can exploit it?

Too many unknowns. It’s better to have him on my side than against me.

“I think you know who it is, Cabello.”

Manuel smiles broadly, “I haven’t been called that since I was a kid. So, Danny Reyes is at it again.” The smile disappears as he leans toward the screen, “The question is, what do you have that he wants?”
