Chapter Six

WhenIrollover the next morning, I am reminded again why Kelly and I should never share an entire bottle of plum wine. My head is killing me.

“Get off of me.”

We also should never share a bed.

“You’re in my bed,” I say.

“And?”

“Come on Kelly. We need to get up. it’s…” I grab my phone from the nightstand and click the side button. “It’s ten thirsty. Oh, my God, we have like an hour and a half before we have to be at the tattoo shop.”

She sits up slowly.

“Fine.” Her hand goes to her head. “But first, water and meds.”

“Yes.”

We are slow moving for the first half hour, but once we are ready to go, you never would have known we had hangovers.

“Let’s take the Jeep. I wanna hang my legs out and tan them,” Kelly says with a grin.

“Fine, just be careful. Don’t make me put the doors back on.”

“Like you would anyway.”

“True.”

We both laugh as we climb in. She punches the address into my GPS, and we leave.

Twenty minutes later, we are at the shop. It’s the typical looking tattoo shop from the outside. Big sign in script lettering. Neon signs and painted windows. But inside is a whole different vibe. It’s very much gothic chic, and I absolutely love it.

“Hello, you have an appointment?” The girl at the front counter asks.

“Yes, she does. With Titus.”

“Perfect.” She hands me a clipboard. “Just fill out this waiver and I will let him know you are here.”

I nod my head and take it from her.

“Ah, I love the smell of fresh ink,” Kelly sighs.

“Does it even have a smell?”

“Sure, it does.”

“Whatever,” I laugh. I take a seat on one of the plushy leather couches and fill out the form, then put it back on the counter. “I’m going to use the restroom.”

“Okay, I’ll let him know if you aren’t back.”

“Thanks.”

The bathroom is even decorated. It has funny vampire sayings in it, and everything a woman could possibly need.

I stare at myself in the mirror after washing my hands.

“You can do this. You are past that part of your life. This is like the last step, and you will never have to think about it again unless you absolutely choose to.”
