“But you know whatisfun?” Cassie looked at JJ, who had her arms crossed over her chest and a frown on her face. “Ordering pizza and watching your dad play the game he’s so good at!”

JJ perked up at the mention of pizza. “Can we order pepperoni with banana peppers on thin crust? That’s my favorite. Oh! And some of those parmesan bread bite thingys. Ilovethose!”

Cassie grinned. “Sounds like a plan. Aria, you in for pizza?”

Aria raised her shirt up and looked at her stomach. “I’ve put on weight,” she said, pointing to her ridiculously flat stomach. “The Thunder doesn’t want any fat dancers.”

Cassie and JJ both rolled their eyes. “You, my friend,” Cassie said, pointing her finger at Aria, “Are most definitelynotfat.”

“Yeah,” JJ added. “You’re like, the skinniest person I know. Other than me, probably. My dad says I got bony knees. One time, when we were wrestling, I accidentally hit him in the bad spot. He told me, ‘Thanks for that, kid. I’ll probably never have kids again.’ Whateverthatmeans.”

Cassie bit back a laugh, which turned into a sweet thought. An image of Jamal, Cassie and JJ, along with a carbon copy of JJ, only in boy form, laughing as Cassie held him on the couch. She caught her breath. She could totally picture herself pregnant with Jamal’s baby, giving JJ a little brother or sister. That thought both scared her and made her giddy with happiness at the same time. She never thought she’d ever get close enough to a man to ever envision that. But here she was, daydreaming about having Jamal’s baby. And, if she were honest with herself, being Mrs. Jenkins.

“Earth to Cassie,” JJ said, waving a hand in Cassie’s face. “Are you gonna order the pizza? I even talked Aria into eating some.”

Cassie shook her head, clearing it of her thoughts. “Pizza. Yes. I can do pizza.”

“You look weird,” JJ said. “What were you thinking about?”

“Nothing. Just hand me my phone so I can order it on my Domino’s app.”

“I know what she’s probably thinking about,” Aria piped up from her perch in the recliner. “She’s probably thinking about having your dad -”

“You dad over for dinner one night. So I can cook for him.Right, Aria?” Cassie said, leveling her friend with a glare. The last thing she needed was for JJ to spend the night at her house and have to learn about the birds and the bees from Aria. Not to mention the fact that Aria was about to blab that Cassie was daydreaming about having Jamal’s baby.

Cassie clicked on the place order button on the Domino’s app. “There. Ordered. Now while we’re waiting, let’s watch your dad.” They just announced the starting players for both teams and Carrie Underwood had sung the Star Spangled Banner. It was game time.

“I have a good feeling about this game,” JJ said. “My daddy is gonna win.”

Cassie smiled, looking down at the kid she had grown to love who was sporting her favorite OU pajamas, her crazy curly hair pulled back into a ponytail. “How can he not?” she said. “He’s the best player ever.”

“Do you know any other players besides my dad and Kyle?”

Cassie shrugged her shoulders. “Maybe.”

“Don’t let her lie to you kid. She totally knows no one,” Aria said, a smirk on her face.

JJ shook her head. “Wegottateach you more about sports. If you’re gonna be my daddy’s girlfriend, you gotta understand the game.”

Jamal wiped the sweat off his brow with the towel wrapped around his neck. The Thunder had beaten the Grizzlies for the second time this season. It was a much closer game this time, with his team eking out a five point win as the buzzer sounded.

“Jamal, how does it feel to beat the Grizzlies for the second time this season?” the reporter, one that Jamal didn’t mind talking to, asked him. She usually knew her stuff. “Do you think this winning streak will continue?”

“It was a close game,” Jamal said. “They have some really good players. If we hadn’t be on point with our free throw shooting, I think they would have beaten us. Luckily, the entire team has a good shooting percentage at the line. I hope that helps us win a lot more games this season.”

“Your teammate, Trevin Anderson, played an incredible game tonight. Some have said it was the best game of his entire career. How does it feel to be on a team again with him since being college teammates at Syracuse?”

“I love getting to play with Trevin again,” Jamal answered. “He’s a great team player. I know I can dish to him down low or kick it back to him for a three pointer. That’s a great person to have on your team. And he did have a great game tonight. I can’t say if it was his best, but it sure helped us get the W.”

“Thanks, Jamal,” the reported said.

“Thanks to you as well,” Jamal replied, wiping off his brow before as he headed to the locker room for a much needed shower.

He couldn’t help but smile as he thought of JJ spending the night with Cassie. The fact that she loved his girl made him the happiest guy on the planet.

Heading to the locker room, he picked up his phone and sent his girls a short text before he headed to the shower.
