“Hey!” Jack calls out. “I’m pretty sure you need to wait—”

“Since they already bypassed my line,” the officiant jokes, “I now pronounce you legally wed, so keep on kissing.”

Our little group erupts in applause and laughter, Oscar and Olivia tossing the little bags of bird seed we gave them and jumping around just like I expected them to. And as I look around and see our friends, the beautiful property, my amazing husband standing in front of me, I feel the tears start to fall.

Somehow this became my life.

“I love you, Pen,” Tommy says, scooping me up in his arms, lifting me off the ground as he kisses me once again.

“I love you too.”

We gather everyone in the cider house for our little reception, grateful to Lauren and Jack for shutting the place down early so we could celebrate. We’re surrounded by our friends, the people we love and that we can’t imagine our lives without, and it’s perfection.

Tommy and I stand at the front of the room, hand in hand, beaming and radiating so much joy I’m finding it hard to believe we are these people now. In a way it’s quite funny, because if you asked me six months ago if I would ever fall head over heels in love with Tommy Andrews, I’d have laughed my ass off. Surly, off limits, but oh so sexy and hot was kind of my jam, but I had no idea that underneath I’d find a man with so much to offer.

“We just want to thank everyone for being here today,” Tommy starts, but falls short of continuing. He’s a little nervous and it’s so damn cute.

“Yes, thank you so much for being here to celebrate with us. This isn’t only a celebration of our marriage but also of Lauren, Jack, and Ellen helping us launch our business. We couldn’t have done it without everyone in this room,” I say, now holding up the glass of champagne one of the waitstaff brought over to me. “So, here’s to new adventures, new and old friends and falling in love.”

Again, the applause starts up, and Tommy leans in to kiss me as I take his hand in mine.

“Come on. We gotta make the rounds,” I tease, pushing him away a little as he gets all grabby, his hand squeezing my ass.

“But this silky dress makes it feel like you’re not wearing underwear and it’s fucking hot,” he murmurers, biting at my neck now.

“That’s because I’m not.” I wink at him, walking away and leaving his mouth on the floor as he watches my ass sway.

My first stop is Jack and Lauren, who are literally making out like teenagers when I stroll up on them.

“Hey, guys,” I say, bumping Lauren with my hip.

“Yay!” she screams, throwing her arms around my neck. “I’m so happy for you. Now you’re never leaving,” she jokes. She pushes up on her toes to kiss Tommy on the cheek and Jack gives both of us a hug.

“Now you know you have me to thank for this, right?” Jack says, hitting us with open arms like we owe him.

Lauren swats at him, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. “Jack, just shush. Let them enjoy their night.”

“Fine, fine. Congratulations on getting hitched and getting hitched to this place. It will be the best decision you’ve ever made.”

I couldn’t agree more with him.

We meet up with Ellen and Will next, hugging and laughing as Oscar and Olivia run around the place like maniacs.

“It’s only a matter of time before this place is overrun by kids and we’re all out numbered,” Will teases, hooking an arm around Olivia’s waist and scooping her up as she tries to run by him. She’s laughing hysterically and Oscar has now intervened trying to free her. Eventually Will sets her down and she throws her arms around my waist, hugging me tightly.

“You look beautiful,” she says, looking up at me with those big brown eyes. “When are you going to have a baby like Aunt Lauren?”

“Olivia!” Ellen calls out, embarrassed by her daughter’s well-known boldness. “It’s rude to ask people that.”

“Sorry,” she yells, running off again.

“So, Lu is pregnant, huh?” I say, giving Ellen a sly smile.

“She is, but she didn’t want it to overshadow your day so she’s keeping it quiet just a little longer,” Ellen admits, holding a finger to her lips and smirking.

“Secret’s safe with us.”

We make our way around the entire room, and even though it’s only a few people we work with at Somerville’s and our friends, it takes us a while. We eventually finish with our last stop…Dylan and Tessa.
