“Then why do you go to Master M’s with her?”

“How did you...”

“Don’t look so surprised. I’ve been there a couple of times, and I saw the two of you come out of a playroom with Master M himself. If she isn’t your sub, why would you take her there? Is she ashamed of the title? Because I’d be proud to wear your collar.”

“My personal life is none of your business.”

“You made it my business when you couldn’t keep your hands off me. You drew me into this life, and now I can’t find another man to satisfy me.”

“You’re going to have to find one. I told you, I’m not interested. We’re going to go back inside, and you’re going to behave.”

“You can’t help yourself, Sir, can you?” She lowered her gaze. “I’ll drop to my knees right here. All you have to do is order me to do it. Would Kayla do that for you?”

This was exactly why Julian had ended things with her. He didn’t want to be in a full-time BDSM arrangement. Not when they were together, and certainly not now that he’d found Kayla. There was more to life than sex, control, dominance, and submission. He had everything with Kayla.

“My relationship with her is not your concern. If you can’t accept that you and I are never going to be together, then I’ll tell your grandfather I can no longer work with you.”

“Just answer me one question.”

“What?”

“Do you allow Master M to participate?”

“Again, that’s none of your business.”

“He’s training her for you, isn’t he?” She laughed. “You wouldn’t need anyone to train me. I could be everything you desire. You know I can.”

“I don’t desire you.” He shook his head. “The sooner you get that through your head, the easier it will be for you to move on. I tried to be polite about it, but you’re leaving me no choice.”

“Julian, please. Just give me a second chance.”

“Enough.”

“Maybe Master M will continue with Kayla. You can tell him that you already have a submissive who knows what you need. If Kayla really wants this lifestyle, let him guide her.”

“Are you topping from the bottom?” He squeezed the bridge of his nose, trying to relieve the tension in his head.

He should have stayed home. He and Kayla could have ordered in and spent the evening cuddled by the fire, drinking wine and catching up.

“No, I want you to be in charge. You won’t regret it.”

“The only thing I regret is getting involved with you.” He turned and headed for the door that led back to the restaurant. “I respect your grandfather, so I’m going to try and make this work with you, but you have to understand I feel nothing for you and I want nothing from you. I can’t make it any clearer than that.”

She hurried to stand in front of him.

“Do you understand?” He placed his hand on his hip, waiting for her to defy him.

“She’ll never be enough.” She leaned up and whispered into his ear.

She entered the dining room. Kayla stood by the door, watching. Julian wondered how long she had been there. He came back into the room, shaking off his conversation with Angelina. That woman had serious issues. They shouldn’t be his problem, but he had a strong suspicion whatever she was trying to accomplish wasn’t over.

“Is everything okay?” Kayla asked.

“Yes.” He took her hand and brought her knuckles to his lips. “How about that drink?”

“Sure.” She continued to stare at him. “Angelina is a piece of work.”

“I don’t want to talk about her.” He moved toward the bar. “Her behavior was inexcusable and I’ve put her on notice.”
