“That’s a shipping container.”

“I know that.” She rolled her eyes at his smart-ass response. “But what is it doing here?”

“It’s for all your furniture to be stored in, while we do the work. Which we’ll be starting tomorrow.”

“So quickly?”

“Since it was all ready to go, we just needed the sign off to get going. So now what do you say?”

“Thank you.”

He laughed. “I was looking more for, yes Callum, you were right all along about having the supplies preordered.”

“Yes, Callum,” she said in a deep, gruff voice, “you were right all along about having the supplies preordered.” Then she grinned when he gave a shout of laughter.

“Cute,” he said, getting out of the car and waiting for her to join him. “I’ve just got a few things you need to approve.”

He took her hand and led her into the house. She sighed when she saw all the water damage. She hadn’t really let herself think about how much impact the storm had had.

“It’ll all be fixed in no time,” Callum said reassuringly.

“Right. Yes, you’re right. I just hate to see it like this.”

“Well, I might have something that’ll make you feel better.”

Leah followed Callum over to the dining room table and gasped with excitement. “Samples! I love samples!”

“Jesus, if I’d known you’d get that excited, I would have given you a box months ago.”

“Funny.” Leah pulled a dining chair out and sat down.

“Right, so you’ve got samples for bathroom and kitchen tiles, counters for the kitchen and wood for the floorboards. If you would prefer to have tiles everywhere, we can do that.”

“No, I like the wooden flooring.” Leah frowned as Callum sat down. He’d supplied five options for everything, but something was missing. “No kitchen cupboard doors?”

“I asked William and he said he’d be happy to make some for you. That way, you could paint them yourself. You could do something plain, or a pattern or whatever.”

Her eyes flew to his face. She stared at him for the longest time as myriad thoughts tumbled through her mind. She could paint her own pattern on her own kitchen cupboard doors. Callum had asked William specifically. It seemed so thoughtful but also really personal. As if he knew that would be something that she would love, because he knew her.

“If you wanted to,” he said, an uncharacteristic edge of uncertainty in his voice.

Leah rose to her feet so quickly that her chair fell back and threw herself at Callum, wrapping her arms around his neck. “If I wanted to? Are you crazy? I love it.”

“Thank fuck, because the way you were staring at me just then, I thought you wanted to hit me.” Leah laughed, shifting to get off his lap, but he wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her tight against him. “How much do you love it?” He asked, his voice husky as he ran his hand up her back and into her hair.

“This much.” Leah slanted her lips across his, giving him a long, drugging kiss.

“Hm, that much, hey?” He asked when she finally raised her head.

“Mm hmm.”

“You love it a lot.”

“Mm hmm.” She turned her attention back to the samples then, otherwise she would just spend the rest of the afternoon kissing. But she made no move to get off Callum’s lap and by the way he still had his arm around her, he didn’t seem to mind. “This is similar to the flooring I already had and I like it, so I’ll just go with that one.”

“Easy,” Callum said, taking the square of wood off her and dropping it on the sideboard.

“These creamy tiles for the bathroom? Or do I want bone?” She paused for a moment, realizing how that sounded. Callum remained silent. “Mikayla would make some joke here about you giving me bone.”
