“And Georgie,” he agreed.
“That sounds lovely.”
“And I’ll plan the honeymoon.”
Leah felt a little thrill spark through her. “Okay, boss.”
“How do you feel about plane sex?”
“I love it.”
“Ever had plane sex?”
“Nope.”
“I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
“Now that we’ve got that sorted…” He reached over Leah and opened the glove box. Shuffling his hand around, he pulled out a little square box, covered in blue velvet. He opened it and held it out.
“Callum!” Leah almost shrieked, pressing her fingertips to her lips. Cushioned in the box was a stonking diamond ring. There was no other word for it. “When did you get this?”
“About a week ago. I’d started thinking that if you didn’t come back soon, I was going to head to Melbourne.”
“To ask me to marry you?”
“Yes. Sorry about the ring, though. I know it’s not much, but I was so keen, I grabbed it on the run. I’ll get you something better later.”
Leah burst out laughing. “That is bitchy and I am here for it.” Her laughter faded to breathlessness as Callum took the ring from the box and lifted her hand in his.
“Leah Anne Kaplan. I love you. I love you with every breath I take. I will always love you…Are these sounding like song lyrics?”
“A bit, but don’t stop.”
Callum paused for a moment before continuing. “I never made it as a wise man.”
“I think you do okay.”
“I don’t think I could cut it as a blind man stealing.”
“Weird.” She looked at him for a long moment, her eyes narrowed. “Are you…are you quoting Nickleback lyrics to me, while officially proposing?”
“Maybe.”
“Right. You didn’t think to say you like it, so you’re putting a ring on it? Disappointing.”
His eyes laughed at her. “A missed opportunity.” He slid the ring on her finger, then raised her hand to his lips and brushed a soft kiss across the back of her fingers. Emotion swirled in his eyes. “I love you, Leah.”
Her heart full to bursting, Leah climbed across the console and into his lap. “I love you, Callum.” She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.
When she finally raised her head for air, Callum pushed open the car door. “Let’s go inside.”
“Where you’re going to shag my brains out, I hope?”
“That’s the plan.” He kept her in his arms as he slid out of the car and she put her head on his shoulder when he started walking towards the door.
“Where are we going to live?”
