“Gentlemen, late-day coffee?” He pulled the pot he’d been about to empty. Serves them right for getting the last of the pot.

“Sure.” They all sat at the table they’d basically claimed as their own. “And why don’t you join us.”

He figured he would since he was a man who liked to face things head-on.

When he placed the four cups down and dropped into a seat, they all looked to McPhee.

“We have a proposal for you.”

“That feels tinted with hues of an offer I can’t refuse.”

He paused before saying, “Can’t might be a tad strong.”

But, he noticed, not off the table.

“Gentlemen, let’s hear this proposal.”

Might as well get it over with.

Of course, that was before he found out what exactly they were proposing. Maybe he should have dodged after all.
