“I know.” I winked, taking it from her.

She grinned. “I think our families want to have dinner next week at my parents’ place.”

“Oh,” Meadow exclaimed. “Backyard barbeque.”

I jumped. “Where the hell did you come from?”

She rolled her eyes. “I’m small but I’m not that small. You guys just don’t pay attention.” She spun on her heel and headed back to the house. “I’ll start planning out some new desserts.”

“I swear your sister’s a ninja,” I told Gigi.

She laughed, shaking her head. “She takes after our father that way.” She paused. “How’s your brother doing?” she asked me while I sprayed on some sunscreen.

“Good.” I passed her a glance. “Why?”

She shrugged, sitting on the lounger beside me. “No reason.”

I bit back a laugh.

“Is he seeing anyone?” she asked, averting my gaze.

I smiled. “Why don’t you just admit that you have a thing for him?”

She gasped, feigning shock. “I have no idea what you’re talking about. Besides, he’s only nineteen. And I’m still dating Matt. But God, I feel like a dirty old woman.”

I laughed. “He won’t be nineteen forever you know.”

“That’s true.” She sighed.

My brother worked with Ashton and Aiden’s father’s construction company now that he was done school. Although he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life, he liked getting his hands dirty.

He had planned on becoming partners with Ashton and Aiden whenever their dad was ready to retire as well. Aiden was in the navy and was having problems. But none of us knew what those problems consisted of. It took him to a dark place whenever it was brought up, so we never questioned it further.

“I’m just curious if there’s someone else,” Gigi continued.

“No, but you do know that he’s had some psycho exes. So just be careful,” I warned.

“He’s too young to have psycho exes.” She scowled.

“I know.” I continued setting up the lounger, getting ready for my tan.

“Um...Luna.” Gigi cleared her throat. “Zach’s here.”

My heart jumped when I remembered the last phone conversation we had.

“That’s nice.” I swallowed hard.

“He’s coming this way.”

I followed her gaze.

Zach was coming toward us. His stride was long, his body stiff. His eyes were dark, taking in my form.

“He looks pissed.” Gigi rose to her full height. “Good luck with that one, girl.”

“Gee, thanks,” I muttered, keeping my gaze locked on his.

My heart raced the closer he got.
