BUSY DOUBTED ME. NOTthat I blamed her really. We needed to talk. Especially about what she saw me do. I didn’t want to talk about it. I didn’t want to talk about anything. No, instead I just wanted to hold her and have her tell me that everything would be okay and that she wasn’t going anywhere. She had called me her monster and she didn’t judge me for the shit I had done. But now I wasn’t so sure.

Once we arrived back at the Hell’s Harlem clubhouse, Busy and I slipped out of the back of the SUV. She muttered something about going to take a shower and I only nodded like a damn fool. What was I supposed to do? I didn’t want to force myself on her but at the same time, I needed her in my arms. Not for sex. Just to touch her and soak up all of her love that I didn’t deserve but craved just the same.

When I was about to step into the house, Tray stopped me. He came toward me, forcing me back a step.

The hackles on the back of my neck rose, tingling with a warning that something bad was about to go down.

Cyrus came into my field of vision from the right. Sammy came up on the left. They were following me. With every step they took, I took one back.

I lifted my hands involuntarily; thankful they weren’t shaking.

“You saved my daughter,” Tray said, finally stopping a foot away. “You got rid of the bastard who ordered her to be taken. From her damn bedroom.”

I only stared at him. Was he going to give me shit for killing the bastard in front of Busy? “I didn’t want to do it front of her.”

Tray nodded, his shoulders slumping. “I get that. There’s been a lot of shit I never wanted to do in front of my wife, but it happened. We talked about it and we moved on. Although, Bee is like her, they do things themselves and they never ask for help. I also saw the shiner on her cheek.”

“She told him off.”

“You took care of it?”

I nodded.

Tray shook his head. “Damn women. Drive me fucking crazy but I love them just the same.”

“Me too,” I blurted. “I mean…”

Tray tilted his head. “Youdolove her. Don’t you?”

“I do.” Never having to deal with the father of someone I was sleeping with before, I wasn’t sure what the rules were. Were we supposed to hug it out? Bump fists? Grunt like cavemen?

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Tray asked, crossing his arms under his chest.

“I just don’t know what I’m supposed to do now,” I confessed.

“How about you go make my daughter happy and take whatever this is between you two, one day at a time?” He clapped my shoulder. “I don’t know you. But I’ve heard things. Horrible things about you. But I’ve seen the way you look at Bee, even though it’s been a short time that you’ve been together. As long as you keep that smile on her face and tears out of her eyes, you and I won’t have a problem. We clear?”

“Yes, Sir,” I muttered.

“Good.” He released me and headed back toward the house. “Greyson wants to chat about what went on tonight. We need to give Shade and Meadow some closure. And then you can go to Bee.” He looked at me over his shoulder. “She’s going to need you.”

I took a deep breath and gave him a slow nod. Truth was, I was going to need her more.

(Bee)

When I entered the house that had been a second home to me for as long as I could remember, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. It was like the walls knew that the stress of the evening was finally over, and they could breathe a sigh of relief.

I had every intention of going to take a shower, but I was stopped short by both Meadow and Shade.

They both stared at me like I had a dick protruding from my forehead.

“You’re making me nervous,” I finally said.

“Fuck it.” Meadow threw herself around me, knocking me back a step.

My eyes widened. I was stiff, my arms at my side like I had no idea what to do with them.
