“Looks like you had several people looking out for you.” Cyrus’s brows narrowed. “But you didn’t know that.”

Tanner’s phone rang at that point. He pulled it from his pocket and flipped it open. “Yeah.” He paused. “It seems you have your hand in a lot of shit.” He held the phone out to Cyrus. “He wants to talk to you.”

“Who is it?” I asked Tanner when Cyrus took the phone from him.

“Rowan,” he told me.

“Your friend?” I had no idea that Cyrus knew him as well.

“Yup. Apparently, Cyrus and he go way back.” Tanner sighed. “I had no idea.”

While Uncle Greyson and Dad went and joined Cyrus while he was talking to Rowan, Meadow stepped up to Tanner. She crossed her arms under her chest, staring up at him. “I don’t like you. You caused a lot of shit. But you love Bee. And she’s my girl. She’s family. If you hurt her, you won’t have to worry about the boys in this house.” She raised an eyebrow. “We clear?”

“Crystal.” Tanner brought my hand up to his mouth. “Very crystal.”

My breath caught at the heat in his dark eyes.

“Well that was interesting,” Uncle Greyson said, rejoining us. “I didn’t know you were friends with Rowan.”

“Do you know him?” I asked, taking a step closer to Tanner’s side.

“Yeah. I’m friends with his parents.” He looked at Tanner. “You got a good friend in Rowan. Don’t fuck that up. Our threats are little compared to what he would do to you.”

Tanner grunted. “Oh, I know. His pretty face means shit.”

“Oh a baby-faced bad boy.” Meadow waggled her eyebrows. “I like it.”

“Careful,” Shade murmured.

Uncle Greyson chuckled. “Listen, I just wanted to add that now that Roxanne is no longer an issue, we can move on. You can start healing.”

“We have our baby for that.” Meadow smiled, cupping her stomach.

Shade’s face lit up. “I can’t wait to meet our little one. I think Sunny would have loved being a father.”

Meadow’s eyes shone. “I agree.” She sighed. “We should go and take advantage of the fact that we’re alone. Before the baby comes and all.”

Uncle Greyson grunted. “I remember when Jaron was born, I didn’t get alone time with Eve at all.”

“That’s because I liked making you wait,” Aunt Eve called out as she walked by with a case of water bottles.

We all laughed.

“Well, in that case.” Uncle Greyson spun on his heel, followed his wife and took the heavy case from her.

A squeal sounded a moment later, followed by laughter. “Stop. We’re not alone.”

“Woman, I’ll do whatever the fuck I want to you. I don’t give a shit where we are and who’s around,” Uncle Greyson’s deep voice boomed.

“You’re so grumpy.” Her laughter followed behind her as both her and Uncle Greyson headed to their part of the house at the back.

Tanner wrapped his arm around my shoulders. “You good, Busy?”

No. But I would be. “I need to take a shower.” I pushed away from him before he could protest and jogged up the stairs to my bedroom.

When I reached my room, I quickly stripped, throwing my clothes in the laundry hamper, and headed into the bathroom. I wasn’t sure what my issue was, but I knew that I needed to wash tonight off of my skin. I also needed to feel Tanner. To be with him. Hold him. Have him hold me just as much. I needed him to tell me that everything was fine now and that we were going to be okay.

I cupped my flat stomach, still unable to believe that I was pregnant. I wasn’t sure how my parents were going to take it, but I would tell them after Tanner and I went to the doctor’s.
