Tanner pulled away, quickly grabbing a throw pillow and placing it on his lap.

My eyes widened.

He winked.

I laughed, shaking my head. I had no idea that I could cause that sort of reaction in a man. Especially someone like him. He had to have been experienced. Definitely far more experienced than I was.

Cyrus and Sammy took that moment to come around the corner, joining us in the den.

Sammy had a scowl on his face while Cyrus frowned. They both looked like Tanner was going to do something he shouldn’t. Maybe he would have if we hadn’t been interrupted. Either way, it would probably be me who would do something I shouldn’t first.

“What are you doing?” Sammy demanded, looking between us.

A glance passed between Tanner and I.

“We just finished fucking each other’s brains out.” I faked a yawn. “I think next time, I should stretch first.”

Tanner coughed.

Cyrus chuckled.

Sammy’s face turned red. “You are not funny.”

“What do you want me to say, Sammy? We were talking. That’s it.” I crossed my arms under my chest, lifting my chin defiantly.

“You need to be careful,” he told me, but his voice didn’t come out as sure as a moment ago. “I don’t like you, but you need to be careful as well,” he told Tanner.

“You keep saying that.” I actually yawned for real that time, leaning my head against the back of the couch. “I’m fine. We are fine.”

Sammy slumped onto the chair beside Tanner while Cyrus leaned a hip against the edge of it.

“Greyson told me I can stay in the spare room down here,” Tanner said, breaking the unnerving silence.

“Yeah.” Sammy stuck an unlit smoke between his lips which was something he did quite often. Both him and his brother were trying to quit but I couldn’t see that happening anytime soon. “You better keep it that way too.”

I rolled my eyes.

“What are you going to do if I don’t?” Tanner pressed.

My heart jumped, my body heating over the fact that he was standing up to them. I wasn’t sure if he was stupid or bored. Probably the latter.

Sammy’s jaw clenched.

“Listen,” Cyrus interjected before his brother popped a blood vessel. “Whatever this is between you two, we’ll keep it to ourselves. Won’t we?” he asked Sammy.

“What the fuck ever.” Sammy stood. “I’m going out.”

“Tell Red I said hi.” Cyrus smirked.

“I’ll tell her when she’s gagging on my cock,” Sammy muttered, stomping away, his heavy footsteps disappearing once he reached the top floor.

“Who’s Red?” I asked.

“Someone who wants nothing to do with my brother it seems.” Cyrus chuckled to himself. “I guess there’s a first time for everything.”

I knew that Sammy had gotten around. While alcohol was Cyrus’s vice, sex was Sammy’s, but I had never seen him bring a woman home to the clubhouse. The other guys had done so but for whatever reason, he didn’t. Cyrus and Sammy shared an apartment about an hour away in another city. They kept to the clubhouse mostly to keep an eye on Piper whenever she stopped by. I wasn’t sure what was going on there, but I knew with Jaron now being in jail, it was bad. Not that anyone told me more than that.

“It’s getting late,” Cyrus said, looking directly at me.
