She looks at me reluctantly and I know deep down she wouldn’t, but I have to at least remind her why she’s important to our family.

When she maneuvers the car at an angle, I can see all members, including Alex, on their knees execution style with guns drawn by members of the rival gang Southside GuNz. I recognize three of the faces from the description my father gave me. Good. I can take three out of the five. Hopefully, I can get more intel on who runs these pricks.

I have maybe ten minutes before more of them show up and they outnumber us. I don’t have time to call more members right now. They were sent to the other side of town to see if they were at the drop-off point Alex was supposed to be at.

Taking a deep breath, I exit the car slowly with a pistol in each hand. I squeeze the trigger in my right and take two out on the perimeter. They drop like a sack of dirt before I aim the gun at the one in charge, pointing his weapon at Alex’s forehead.

The guy looks over, stunned I shot them in the head, and he didn’t see me coming. “What the fuck?” he says.

I shoot the third one and train both weapons on the last two. Alex’s expression is full of shock as I push my gun against the guy’s skull.

“You think you can roll up on King territory? Do you know who the fuck I am?”

“A crazy bitch with a death wish? Put the gun down before I show you what we do with women like you.”

How laughable he thinks he can intimidate me with empty threats. I push the barrel harder against his head. “Funny how I’m the one holding a gun to your fucking miserable head. Anyone of you flinches and I’ll shoot you in the head. Don’t fuck with me, I am not the one.”

“Who the fuck are you?” he asks. “I’ll pull the fucking trigger on your leader, so don’t play games with me, you stupid bitch.”

“Tsk-tsk. Wrong answer.” I slam the barrel of the gun against his head, and he grunts. I’m running out of time. “Who are you working for, cabron?”

He laughs because there are two options: I let him go or he dies.

And he knows it.

Alex speaks up. He has a huge gash on his brow. “Leave me here and go.”

“No,” I say.

“Stop fucking around and leave me here,” he says, clenching his teeth.

“Nah, thisputoneeds to learn. So, which one of you wants to go back and send a message, hm?”

The guy looks over at his friend with my gun trained on him. The other members now have their guns in hand, aimed at them with shock marring their expressions, not believing I was the one who came to save them.

“I’m waiting,” I singsong.

I take a deep breath, making my decision. Getting close as possible, I say softly to the asshole that has his gun trained on Alex’s head, “El Diablosends his regards.” Pop. The gun goes off, shooting a gaping hole in his head as blood trickles down and he falls to the side.

“H-he didn’t answer,” the one that is left stammers in fear.

The rage inside me comes to the surface, but I appear calm when I speak. “He took too long.”

“Holy fuck. You’re a crazy bitch.”

“No, you dumb fucks think you can roll in on cartel territory.”

“It is… it is you.La Diabla Feminina. You’re like a myth. You saidEl Diablosent you.” His hand shakes as he lowers the gun. Alex and the other members have their guns trained on him in case he tries to shoot.

“Congratulations. You figured out who I am. Now you are going to send a message to your leader, but first I need a name.”

“His name is Juancho. He’s from Honduras. He formed a gang to take over Arizona. He said it’s a pipeline, and he is going to take over because he thinks the East Hillside Kings are some little gang he can take out. He doesn’t know they’re cartel.” The man shakes his head. “They will come for you when I tell him.”

“Good. You tell him I will find him and when I do, it will be the day he realizes the mistake he has made. We sent warnings, but none of youpinche cabroneslisten.”

“I’ll deliver your message. Please let me go.” He looks around with horror at how I executed his boys without flinching.

“Let’s go,” I direct Alex.
