“I do.That’s crazy.”

Elise nodded.“Exactly.Absolutely ridiculous. And then there is Stefano, who you’ll meet in a little bit.He doesn’t date women for very long either. He says it’s because he’s concentrating on his fighting career, which… whatever. Then we have Sergio here, the playboy of the bunch, which is really saying something because they’re all playboys.”

“Hey!”He held up his hands.“Can I help it if the women love me?”

“Yes, you can.And then we’ve got Santino.”

“What are you going to say about me, Elise?I thought you loved me.”

“I love all of you.”She grinned.“I just think it’s absolutely ridiculous that none of you ever finds yourselves in a serious relationship.”

“Well, you know, I don’t see you in a serious relationship?”

“Yeah, because I’ve been busy.”She looked at Valentina and smiled.“I’m an attorney, and as you can imagine, I work a lot of hours.”

“Oh, that’s really cool,” Valentina said with a smile.“I’m actually trying to start my own business.I want to open a dog café.”

“Cool. And what about you, Gabriella? What do you do?”

“I’m actually really into fashion,” she said, smiling.“I’m trying to start my own line.”She shrugged.“It’s a little bit hard because, well …”

Valentina saw it.“Gabriella, you need to stop being down on yourself.”

“I know.I know.”Gabriella shook her head.“I just feel like no one wants to buy clothes from someone who’s plus-size.”

Sergio stared at her.“Who’s plus-size?”

Gabriella looked at him with narrowed eyes.“Are you joking?”

He looked her up and down.“Girlfriend, you’re gorgeous.I mean, if you want to go with me to the back right now, I’ll fuck the living daylights out of you just to let you know how gorgeous you are.”

Gabriella blushed, but I could tell she was pleased.“I mean, thank you, but …”

“Thank you?”Valentina started laughing.“You Valenti guys are something else.”

“Well, would anyone like to hear my latest poem?”Shane asked.I could tell he was annoyed about not being the center of attention.

“Uh, what?”Santino looked at him with narrowed eyes and then looked at me.

“I would like to tell you about a poem I just came up with.”

“Um, okay.”Santino nodded.“Go ahead then, dude.”

“I call it ‘The Spark.’”

I pressed my lips together and stared at Sergio, who had raised both of his eyebrows.Valentina looked at me and glared, and I could tell she was trying not to giggle.

“The Spark.Unthinkable, bright, yellow, orange.”Shane paused dramatically.“It’s like fire shooting out of my loins, and I feel the vibration of their eyes watching me because I am The Spark. It is not—”

“Hey, guys, thanks for coming.”Stefano’s loud voice boomed as he made his way toward us, and I let out a sigh of relief.

“Thank God for that,” Sergio said out loud, and I glared at him.“Oops, sorry.”He looked at Valentina, and she just shook her head.

“You boys are horrible.”

“Hey, I didn’t even finish,” Shane said, completely not recognizing that none of us were into the poetry.

Gabriella looked at me and smiled.“It’s not really the best, but Valentina likes him. What can I say?”
