This time, Porter didn't hesitate. He pulled the trigger but missed by a hair. Trying again, he saw the man stumble back as blood poured from his shoulder. Michele's face was twisted into a mask of rage and Porter swallowed thickly. He was freaking out and every time he panicked he would miss, it never failed. Trying to regain himself, he breathed slowly and readied to fire off another shot when a blur shot past him.

Porter blinked and Michele was on the ground with Ozni on top of him. The daywalker’s teeth had turned into rows of sharp, deadly points and he bit into Michele, ripping into his arm. Cyrus was right there with him and Porter swallowed thickly as he saw the incubus in action. Moans left Michele's mouth as Cy ripped into him with his claws, shredding his clothes and then his flesh as blood splattered across both of their bodies.

His men. They tore Michele apart as if he was nothing more than a wet piece of paper. Eventually, his screams started to die down before they ceased altogether. Cy and Oz moved off to fight other guards, but Porter stared down at the mess of the man that had terrorized him for years. He was no longer recognizable, the monster that stalked his nightmares and waking moments equally. A sense of freedom settled into his stomach. No more.He would never be hurt or humiliated by either of them again.

Finally, he was free.

"Porter! Get Foi!"

He jerked away from the mess of blood and bone that was Michele, his mind finally starting to work again. Porter turned to Foi who laid on the ground. He coughed up blood and it shoved Porter back to reality. Porter abandoned the gun and ran over to him before he dropped to his knees, pain shooting up his legs as he reached out for Foi.

"I'm here, I'm here," he said. "Don't you dare fucking die on me or I'll be pissed off!"

Foi whined, panting and lying down on the ground again. It was like he was giving up and it pissed Porter the hell off.

Porter smacked him roughly on the nose and Foi's eyes blinked open rapidly. "I said don't die, asshole. You're not allowed. Remember? You belong to me and you'll die when I fucking say you can!"

He ran his hand over Foi's body and found the bullet wound in his right rib cage. It was still gaping, but Porter could already see Foi's skin trying to heal and plaster over the bullet. He looked around and saw the knife Michele had kept on him at all times. Plucking it up, he turned back to Foi.

"Sorry about this, but I'm going to get it out."

Before Foi could object, he shoved the tip of the knife into Foi's wound. The wolf let out a soul-shaking howl, pain echoing from his throat as Porter fished around for the bullet. Something hit the tip of his knife and Porter knew he'd found it. He worked the blade until the bullet began to move, rising to the surface with each poke and prod. When it was in sight, Porter plucked the bullet out before he threw it to the side.

"There you go," he said. "Everything's going to be fine." He ran a hand over Foi's fur as he glanced up.

The guards in the room had slowly thinned out. Porter’s eyes landed on the man he’d seen moving around the room, cutting men down. He had the strangest feeling that he knew him, but he couldn’t place the face. Black ears sat on top of his head and a tail whipped behind him. Other than that he was completely naked.

The guy must have felt his eyes because he stopped and smiled at Porter. "I'm glad you're all okay. Don't forget about Jaygen."

Porter frowned. "Do I know you?"

Chuckling, he nodded. "You know me really well."

The man shifted and went from a taller man to a small, black kitten. Porter's eyes widened and he immediately realized why he'd felt so familiar. Spooky! The cat meowed and rubbed up against Porter and then Foi before he turned and took off.

"Spooky?" Porter mumbled. "This day gets weirder and weirder."

"I thought I saw him."

Porter quickly looked down to see Foi groaning. He'd shifted back into a human, trembling and covered in sticky blood. But he smiled up at Porter before he reached out and touched his cheek.

"I thought I lost you," Porter whispered as he held onto Foi's hand. "You scared the shit outta me!"

"Sorry," Foi coughed and groaned as he slowly sat up. "I was being reckless again, wasn't I?"

"Stupidly fucking reckless. I'm telling Jaygen."

Foi groaned, but before he could say another word Porter's lips crashed against his. They clung to each other, their lips hard and rough before their tongues tangled. The wolf was left panting and Porter's heart sped up in his chest as he looked at one of the men he loved. He was okay.

"Where's Jaygen?"

"We still need to get the keys and get him," Amy said, panting as she walked over. "Get Foi, Oz, and Cyrus out of here. Especially Ozni."

“No way,” Foi groaned. “I’m not leaving his goddamn side again.”

“Me either,” Oz growled, blood rolling down his arms. “We stay together.”

Amy pinched the bridge of her nose. “Look, I love this whole looking out for each other thing, but this is stupid. These rooms are soundproof which is the only reason we haven’t been tracked down and murdered by now. You think my family is bad? We’re in a place where there aremultiplefamilies who will happily slit our throats and make us disappear. Not to mention the fact our dad is over there, dead. We can’t get caught.” Amy glanced at each of them. “Foi, you’re hurt. Oz, if you bite one more person you’re going to lose it. And Cy is on the verge of overeating like last night. Now that my dad and Michele are down, no one’s going to be looking for us. We’ll get Jaygen and get the hell out.”
