Arden’s face instantly softened and he sat down. “No, don't be sorry. Come here.”

Micha’s feet wouldn’t budge and he wasn’t sure if he should. He’d only make Arden more upset and it was the last thing he wanted to do.

Arden cocked a brow at Micha. Shit, maybe staying still wasn’t the right answer either. Micha’s head was a jumbled mess; he couldn’t decide on anything and there was an endless loop of questions, possibilities, and more swirling around in his head. He wanted to turn it all off. But that seemed impossible.

“Boy, I said come here,” Arden snapped.

Micha’s back went ramrod straight and for a split second all the voices quieted. His body was moving without any forethought and he found himself at Arden’s feet.

“What is going on in that pretty head of yours?”

Again Micha’s body moved on its own. He crawled into Arden’s lap and the dragon let him. It had become Micha’s safe spot where he could drown himself in Arden’s overwhelming scent and forget everything. He’d be perfectly wrapped in a cocoon.

“A lot,” Micha finally answered.

“Want to elaborate on that?” Arden asked.

Yes. No. Maybe.“You will ha—” Micha bit his tongue, keeping the words from leaving. He tried to bury his face in the crook of Arden’s neck.

But no such luck. Arden tugged his shoulder-length brown hair and Micha gave in. His vision blurred but no tears fell.

“I will what?”

Micha shook his head as best as he could. “Please.” Micha didn’t even know what he was begging for but the deepest part of his soul told him Arden would be able to answer it.

Arden’s gaze locked with Micha’s. It hurt to hold it for so long but Micha couldn’t look away either. He was stuck in place until he was released.

“Are you going to be a stubborn birdie?”

Micha hesitated all of five seconds before he nodded.

The corner of Arden’s mouth tilted up in a smirk. “I’ll have to punish you then.”

Micha opened his mouth to protestbut didn’t he deserve to be punished? He shut his mouth and nodded.

“You want a punishment?” Arden asked. He sounded bemused.

Micha shrugged and Arden studied him a bit more. He did his best not to squirm under the weight of Arden’s gaze.

“You have to say it,” Arden said.

Micha’s entire face lit up like the fourth of July.He wanted him to say it out loud? His heart pounded rapidly against his ribcage.

“I—” He licked his lips and finally broke eye contact with Arden, unable to hold it. “I wantyoutopunishme.”

“No, that won’t do.”Arden gripped Micha’s chin and forced him to look up once more. “Try again, birdie.” His voice was firm and commanding but there was a softness to it that Micha had only heard directed at him.

Micha shivered and took in a shuddering breath as he tried to come up with words. “I-um.”

“Would you like some help?” Arden asked.

Micha swallowed audibly. “Please.”

Arden's smile was worth it all. The dragon traced the outline of Micha’s bottom lip; it took everything in him not to stick his tongue out and lick Arden’s thumb. “Are you really fucking everyone?”

The heat that had been swimming in Arden’s eyes dimmed a little. “Do I look like a man who would fuck everyone?” Micha’s mouth opened but Arden placed his finger over his lips. “Answer that carefully.”

He removed his finger and Micha cleared his throat. “No, I mean Gamble, Bash, Eldon, and Spooky.”
