She waved a hand. “No more checking. There are some people I need to introduce you to and a few others who would like to see you again as well.” As he started to protest she narrowed her eyes. “Do this and then you can go back to your mates, but this is important, Ardoneous.”

Arden grumbled. “Fine,” he snapped. Right, he had to do this for his kingdom. As they passed Eldon, he grabbed the vampire. “Micha ran off to the bathroom looking upset. Go check on him.”

Eldon nodded. “Okay, I’ll figure out what’s going on. You do your job too.”

Right, he was supposed to be playing the happily engaged prince. Leave it to Eldon to remind him of his duties. He pushed his shoulders back and nodded at Eldon. They parted ways and Arden’s stomach churned as he thought about Micha.

Had he freaked Micha out telling the man that he was falling in love with them? But it was the truth. And he could never hold that back, not for long.

Arden threw one last desperate look over his shoulder. By now Eldon had probably found him and was talking to the little bird. He knew sooner or later Eldon would come right back to him and tell him everything.

Maybe then they could all sit down and talk about the whirlwind of emotions that had surrounded them. Or they could fall into bed, hold each other, and forget the world even existed.

Slippingthrough people was Eldon’s specialty; he was nothing more than a blur of motion as he made his way to the bathroom. The worry had been written all over Arden’s face. Eldon opened the bathroom door and found Micha. He almost called out to him but let his mouth close as he took everything in.

Micha paced the floor, his phone in hand as he jabbed at the screen with tears in his eyes. “Answer!”

Who was he calling?Eldon locked the door and moved closer to the distressed nephilim. Still, Eldon went unnoticed as Micha slammed his phone onto the bathroom counter. The vampire jumped; he'd never seen any aggression from the otherwise soft angel. He was always so soft and polite. But it was clear whatever he was going through it had reached past the point of his control.

Eldon’s stomach knotted as he reached for Micha still unable to speak. He’d always felt like there’d been something wrong but seeing how distraught Micha was, Eldon realized his mistake. He should have spoken to Micha before instead of letting it pass and waiting. Sometimes it was better to coax someone into asking for help than to wait for them to do it.

His hand wrapped around Micha’s wrist and the nephilim’s head jerked up. Watery pink eyes stared up at Eldon. They widened and to the vampire’s surprise, Micha pulled away from him.

“What—” Micha shoved his phone into his pocket. “What are you doing in here, Eldon?”

“The more important question is how much longer are you going to keep hurting by yourself?”

Micha sucked in a sharp breath and everything in Eldon wanted to grab him again and hold him tight. But he stayed still watching as Micha wiped at his tears.

“I don’t know—”

“Don’t lie to me,” Eldon said. He took a step forward, unable to stand the distance between them. Cupping Micha’s face, Eldon wiped away more stray tears.

Micha stared up at him, his mouth opening and closing as if he was struggling with what he needed to say. The angel pulled away. “I can’t do this.”

“Do what?” Eldon’s shoulders tensed. If Micha was saying he couldn’t handle Arden getting married, he’d understand and was sure the dragon would figure out something. But deep down Eldon knew that wasn’t what was bothering Micha.

“This!” Micha waved his hands in the air and then gestured between them.

Eldon went stone still not even blinking as he took Micha’s words in.This, as in being with them? Why?

More tears broke free and once again he started to pace. Eldon was stuck unsure of what to say or do. He needed to get Arden; he’d be able to talk some sense into Micha. Show the nephilim that they were meant to be together.

“He said he loved us.” Micha stopped moving and shoved his fingers through his hair. “Me.” He sucked in a shuddering breath and his voice cracked. “He included falling in love withme.”

Eldon blinked. Arden was falling in love with them? He’d hoped it would happen but to hear the dragon was starting to feel what Eldon felt for him the entire time was— Eldon looked at Micha and he’d seen the way he clung to Arden. The starry look he reserved for the man. It wasn’t just them feeling it, but Micha too. He loved Arden. It was clear as day and yet he was crying and freaking out.

“Why would that be a bad thing?” Eldon asked.

Micha shook his head. “I can’t. This wasn’t supposed to happen.”

Eldon’s hands twitched as he fought the urge to grab Micha and shake him until he saw he was wrong.

“Whatwassupposed to happen then?”

Micha went back to pacing. He reached for his phone and groaned before shoving it back into his pocket.

“Who are you trying to reach?” Eldon asked.
