Micha halted but he didn’t look at Eldon as he spoke. “The plan—it’s all wrong.”

“What is?” Eldon growled. What plan was Micha talking about? Eldon’s stomach clenched tighter as dread filled him.

“Micha, I need you to talk to me.”

The nephilim shook his head. “It was all my fault!” He took more steps away until his back crashed against the wall. “You’ll hate me, everyone will hate me.” Micha lifted his head and a fresh wave of tears broke free.

Eldon didn’t question himself or hold back any longer. He vamp sped over to Micha and pulled him into his chest without further questions. “Breathe.”

Micha attempted to pull away but Eldon tightened his arms not willing to let him go. The vampire knew if he did then all would be lost. “Shh, I have you.” Eldon placed a soft kiss on Micha's forehead as he held the angel.

Eldon continued to reassure Micha, knowing it was what the nephilim needed. He didn’t let him go or loosen his hold for a second. Micha eventually stopped trying to pull away from him and sagged in his arms. Trembling fingers worked their way under his suit jacket and pulled his shirt from his pants. Eldon said nothing as Micha worked his way to Eldon’s bare flesh.

The moment Micha’s fingers touched him it was like icicles pressed against his skin. Nothing like the normal warmth that radiated from the angel. Nails bit into Eldon’s flesh but he’d take on any pain if it helped Micha. If it was possible, Eldon would take all the pain and worry from Micha and place it upon himself.

But that wasn’t their reality. All Eldon could do was help. He cupped Micha’s face once more and pressed their foreheads together. Micha’s thick lashes were wet with more tears.

“Talk to me, Micha.” Before he could say no, Eldon placed a kiss on each eye. His lips were now wet with tears. “I can’t tell you how the others will feel or what they will think of you but I know for myself there is nothing in this world that would make me hate you, Micha.”

Pink eyes glanced up at him. There was a moment of hesitation before Micha spoke. “I was the reason PGD was shut down.”

Eldon stared down at Micha. He couldn’t have said what he thought he said. There was no way. It had to be a lie and yet Micha’s heartbeat was steady.

The nephilim wasn’t done apparently. “I was sent to PGD to get information on Arden.”

What?Eldon pulled back and really looked at Micha. Was he really the angel they’d all fallen for? Or was it all a lie? Eldon’s stomach turned as he thought about it being fake. There was no way anyone could fake the passion they had for each other. Or the connection they felt. So what was happening?

Eldon tightened his arms back up. “What do you mean? Are you trying to say you don’t love Arden? That all of this is fake?”

Micha shook his head instantly. “No.”

“No, what? Micha, I can't understand what is happening and can’t help unless you explain it to me.”

“I’ve never been happier than when I’m with all of you. I want to stay with you, Arden, Gamble, Bash and Spooky.” Micha hiccuped. “Forever.”

Eldon’s fangs cut his lip as they dropped down. The thought of someone taking Micha away from them made him want to kill. He shook his head.Calm down.“Micha.” Eldon wiped his tears. “Calm down.”

Micha shook his head and pulled away. Eldon reluctantly let him go.

“You don’t understand. What I did. I thought I was doing the right thing but the more time I spent with Arden, the more everything got confusing. But—but.”

Eldon forced his fangs back and stayed silent. It physically hurt not to go to Micha again. To reassure him and tell him he didn’t have to say anything more.

“He saved me and it was one favor, it was right.” Micha's pink eyes bore into Eldon begging for an answer he wasn’t sure he’d be able to give. “Right?”

Eldon said nothing, knowing no answer he gave would be the right one. Micha dropped his head and Eldon had to close his eyes to keep himself from caving. They stood there in silence and once Eldon had himself under the best control he could get he breathed.

“Start from the beginning.”

Micha still didn’t look at him as he started talking. “I was in an abusive relationship for a long time. I can’t tell you how long I was stuck there; after a while, time stopped meaning anything. I was too afraid to leave and—” Micha touched his feathers and shook his head. “One day a man barged in and killed my abuser and all of sudden I found myself free. Or at least I thought.”

Eldon swallowed back the hiss of anger. It wasn’t a surprise. Micha's reactions had indicated the kind of past he’d had. But still hearing it made Eldon see red and the only thing that kept him from running out there to go hunt the bastard down was the knowledge he was already dead.

“He only asked one thing of me and that was to help him bring down the man who’d hurt him.” Micha cleared his throat. “I was shown pictures and documents of everything.”

Eldon wanted to ask of what, but he stayed silent.

“The favor was to get into Paranormal Guilty Pleasures, become a host, and find a way to get him information on Arden. And once I collected enough then I’d be set up in another city with a new name and a new life.” Micha's hands trembled as he covered his face.
