“Eldon.” Micha’s hand rested on his shoulder, pulling him from his lustful thoughts.

“Are you drooling?” Spooky asked.

Eldon wiped his mouth, and sure enough, he was. What the hell was wrong with him? Before he could come up with something, Spooky was in his face.

“What were you thinking about?” Spooky’s voice dropped into a seductive whisper that made Eldon want to attack him even more.

Prey that would put up a struggle.Eldon winked and smiled. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”

He moved away from both of them. They were tempting, but together it was like having access to a demon and angel at the same time. A heady mixture that would no doubt make him high.

“You two go upstairs and don’t take all night.” Eldon kept moving before he could do something crazy like turning back and sinking his fangs into Spooky. Gamble was one thing, but Spooky? He shook his head. That was an entirely different story. One that he needed to feel out and see if he had even an iota of a chance with. It still shocked him that Micha had been interested.

Eldon caught Arden’s eyes and chatted with him. “Are you on the bar alone tonight?”

“You were looking at Spooky like a starving animal.”

Eldon’s jaw dropped. Okay, so he hadn’t expected that to come out of Arden’s mouth. Nor had he anticipated the little growl on the end of his sentence.

“And if I was?” Eldon asked. He leaned against the bar and stared at Arden with an unwavering gaze. Eldon had no idea why he was pushing the issue when he didn’t get it himself. He couldn’t place his attraction to all of them. Well, that wasn’t true; each and every single one of them pulled at something inside of him, made him feel needed and above all else Eldon wanted to be useful. Someone that couldn’t be tossed to the side like a used napkin. He could dream.

Eldon stopped his thoughts and instead reached out and touched Arden. He doubted the dragon realized that his shoulders dropped, and his face smoothed out as if Eldon’s touch alone brought him peace.

“I’m a little hungry. I’ve been feeding from Gamble but that’s a toss up on a good day. All the extra work I’ve been doing and staying up during the day has increased my intake of blood.”

Eldon’s gaze dropped down to Arden’s neck of its own accord at the thought of blood. His tongue swiped along his bottom lip as his stomach tightened with a fierce hunger. How was he only hungry for certain people? It had gotten worse over the past few weeks, but if he was honest with himself, it had gotten bad since the moment he’d moved to Silvercross city and met the elusive dragon boss.

“And the blood bags?”

Eldon kept his face impassive. “I drink them when I can.” He bit back the truth. They were disgusting. It was like swallowing down warmed-up sludge. He pulled his hand away and stood up straight. “But I’ve been meaning to ask what is happening between you, Spooky, and Gamble?”

Arden’s thick brows dipped. “That isn’t any of your concern.”

Eldon smirked. “Ah that’s fine, but you might want to stop acting weird around them.”

“I am not.”

“Mhm, keep telling yourself that,” Eldon said. He pushed away from the bar, but he didn’t make it far as a rough hand wrapped around his arm and dragged him back.

Eldon swallowed but stayed calm. He glanced at Arden and did his best not to moan. “This isn’t professional.”

Arden’s brow ticked up. “You’ve had a slick mouth with me ever since you spent one night in my bed.”

Butterflies erupted in Eldon’s stomach as he remembered the way Arden had held onto him and how much need had shown in his glossy eyes. The entire time Eldon had felt as if he’d found the place he belonged.

“I was thinking you’d forgotten all about that,” Eldon said. His voice sounded slightly breathy to his own ears. He cleared his throat, but it did no good when Arden tightened his hold.

“Down to the cellar,” Arden commanded.

Eldon blinked a few times as his arm was released, and he was left standing there, confused about what had just transpired.

“Did I stutter?”

Eldon shook his head. “You didn’t, but I’m not moving until you say please.”

The muscle in Arden’s jaw ticked, and Eldon had the most ridiculous idea to vamp speed over to the dragon and bite along his jaw. He bet the feel of Arden’s scruff against his tongue would send delightful shocks throughout his body.

“Eldon,” Arden said through clenched teeth.
