Arden nodded as if he could be seen. "Just this once."

"That's the spirit," Ezra chuckled. "And Ardoneous?"

Arden's throat tightened hearing his old name. "Yes?"

"I won't tell Mother about any of this. This is between you and me."

He closed his eyes and felt a wave of relief wash over him as he sank into his leather office chair. "Thank you," he whispered.

The call ended and words, as always, were left unsaid. But Arden now had someone on his side to help protect who and what he loved.

Love is a strong word. Isn't it?

Arden stared into the distance and immediately Spooky, Gamble, Eldon, Micha, and even Bash filled his mind.Did he love them?It seemed farfetched until he thought about losing them and his blood boiled all over again.

Everything that Arden knew was falling apart. And he wasn't sure how long he could keep his fake sanity intact.

The lineto PGD was almost non-existent. Gamble glanced over the few people in the queue and frowned. What the hell?

“Something like this has never happened before?” Bash asked.

Gamble shook his head. “You’ve seen our nights; they are always a big deal. Even Tuesdays are busy.” The line tended to wrap around the building and then some. Not including the reservations.

Gamble glanced over the tablet in his hand. He tended to memorize the list of VIP customers and those who booked ahead of time. It should be over thirty on the list, but looking at it again, there was less than half now.

“Do you know what happened?” Gamble whispered to Bash.

The bear shifter crossed his arms over his large chest, drawing Gamble’s gaze and nearly making him forget about the line. He shook his head and forced his eyes on the line instead. He shouldn’t be so horny or need to look at anyone, not when he was regularly involved with Arden and Spooky.

Heat blossomed in his lower abdomen, thinking about the two of them. How good Arden felt inside of him and how perfect the connection was between him and Spooky. They still hadn’t talked about it; outside of their entanglement in the sheets, Gamble tended to avoid Spooky. He still wasn’t sure about the whole familiar connection thing, even if his magic flowed through him more easily now.

“There was a cop in earlier. He came because of what went down the other night,” Bash said.

Gamble’s brows dipped. “He deserved worse. A bullet between the eyes would have been better.” He hadn’t been inside, but by the time Gamble had made it, the human had been a bloody mess on the floor. Eldon stood above him, his once gray eyes blood red. He’d looked at the man as if he was the worst scum alive, and once Gamble heard how he’d hurt Micha, he too wanted to hurt the human.

Bash gave a curt nod, and his lips slightly hidden from view by his auburn facial hair dipped. “You won’t hear an argument out of me.”

Gamble’s fingers twitched. The need to smoke ate at his nerves, but he didn’t have the time with customers there.

“If Arden hadn’t reacted so fast, I would have,” Bash growled out.

Gamble peeked at the man from the corner of his eyes. Bash’s green eyes were sharp, and right behind them flickered the gold of a shifter. Gamble could tell he meant what he said. The bear wanted to tear the human apart who’d hurt their sweet Nephilim.

“You like him,” Gamble said.

Bash dropped his arms and turned to face Gamble, but he didn’t need to hear a lie; he saw it in the way the bear shifter treated Micha. He was always careful around him and allowed Micha to touch him when he’d been so withdrawn before.

Bash grunted and Gamble nodded.

“Micha is special,” Gamble confessed. He wasn’t afraid to admit it. Micha was soft and beautiful, but he also pulled at Gamble’s heart strings. The very ones Gamble swore he’d gotten rid of.

“Are you involved with him? You’re still sleeping in his room?” Bash asked.

Gamble smirked. “Involved?” He moved closer to the bear shifter and draped an arm over his shoulder. Bash tensed all of five seconds before relaxing. Gamble swallowed down the snicker; the bear shifter was likely to punch him if he let it out. “Are you asking me if I’m fucking the cute angel?”

Bash growled, and Gamble couldn’t contain it anymore; he laughed. He pushed up on his tippy toes to reach Bash’s ear. “If I was, would you want to join?” Gamble wasn’t usually so forward, and he tended to keep to himself except when it came to these men but there was something about Bash that made him want to poke at the big shifter.

Gamble pulled back and was taken by the deep red hue that colored Bash’s cheeks.Holy shit, the bear blushes.Gamble’s heart skipped a beat, and he wanted nothing more than to push him a little further. He enjoyed riling Bash up; it was different than when he did it to Arden. When it came to the dragon, it was as if Gamble couldn’t keep his foot out of his mouth. But with Bash, it was intentional. He enjoyed hearing the man’s growls and the way his eyes flashed with specks of gold with the promise of violence.
