“It’s over, Rhys. He’s gone. They areallgone.” She cries.

My heart sinks because they aren’t all gone. Not yet. I don’t voice that to her, though. She is excited for me. Happy that these monsters have been removed from existence.

I chat with Lexi for a little while longer, and when my dad comes back into the room, nodding and announcing that Officer Zimora has confirmed that Terence Hill has been murdered, I suck in a slow, steady breath and silently thank whoever the hell it was that stopped that oxygen thief once and for all.

I feel kind of numb. I’m happy he’s gone. I’d been disappointed when the police found him near the pool, burnt to a crisp, yet still alive. He deserved death too, but now that it’s been delivered, I kind of wish I’d been the one to send him to hell. I keep my thoughts to myself about that, though. I’m already seeing my therapist a couple of times a week at the moment. My ‘rents will surely demand more sessions if they knew my line of thinking.

“Does this mean it’s over?” Marcus asks, and I turn to see four sets of loving eyes on me.

I shake my head and sneak a glance at Ty. His lips are thin, and I know he’s thinking the same thing as me, but it’s Shaun who speaks quietly so my parents can’t hear, and Ty takes a few steps closer.

“There’s still the possibility that the police will find the member list for the Feast nights. If it’s on the cloud drive that the police have access to, then me, Rhys and Ty will be put in the spotlight. It won’t end well for Ty.”

“Actually, I’ve taken care of that,” Ty announces, and my brows shoot up.

“You have?”

He nods. “I reached out to Bec and Amanda and asked if their contacts could make our names and membership contracts vanish, along with a few others. I also asked them to find the video of us, Kitten. The one in the barn. It’s all mysteriously vanished. The police can’t get their hands on it.”

“You sneaky fucker.” Shaun chuckles, his face lighting up in a relieved grin.

“Lucky is what he is,” Marcus mutters. He has accepted Ty, but I think it will be a while before he stops giving Tyler a hard time.

“So it really is over, then?” Simon asks what Marcus asked before.

“Not quite.” Garrett rasps, and my eyes meet his. There’s anger in them, but it’s not anger towards me or anyone in this room.

“Brian,” I whisper, and they each nod. “His time will come soon enough.”

My words are sure and strong, and I do what I do best, shoving all unwanted thoughts to the back of my mind.

After things calm down, my parents retreat outside to lounge in the sun while the twins make a dirt track for their matchbox cars. The guys have had enough of the sun, apparently, so they move to the theatre to put on a movie while I reluctantly say goodbye to Ty and walk him out.

Our hands brush as we slowly walk down the passage that leads to my front door. I glance up at him to notice his eyes already on me as we delay the inevitable. I don’t know how long it will be before I get to see him in person again. He’s adamant about keeping his distance until I’m eighteen out of respect for my parents.

My heart sinks. The thought of not tasting his lips on mine until April is almost unbearable. I stop walking and glance back over my shoulder. My parents and the twins are out in the backyard. Char has gone to see her girlfriend. The guys are in the theatre.

“Kitten?” The rasp of Ty’s voice is low, and I glance back to see he has stopped walking too, his deep blue eyes showing his confusion.

I bite my lip, dragging my gaze from his to peer down the darkened hallway off to my right, which leads to the garage and the guest powder room.

“Kitten?” Ty asks again, but this time it sounds more like a warning, so I grin and drag my eyes back to his.

“Daddy,” I whisper, and he growls. He’s about to open his mouth and say something else, but I shoosh him and snatch his hand in mine, quickly dragging him down the dark passage. He doesn’t fight me. He lets me tug him toward the door of the small powder room, but when I go to step inside, he stops me, tugging me back and pushing me up against the wall by the door.

“You’re going to get me into trouble, Kitten.”

I shrug. “Wearetrouble, Ty. Why fight it?”

He chuckles quietly. “You make it impossible to refuse you.”

“Good. It’s best not to, anyway. I’m good at causing a commotion when I don’t get my own way.” I flash him a playful smile, and he shakes his head, his grin spreading wider. Fuck, it’s really beautiful. I won’t tell him that because I’m sure he’d have something to say about me thinking he’s beautiful, but the way he smiled just now is the happiest smile I’ve ever seen on him. I want to see it more. Like every day.

“What are we doing here, Kitten?”

“What do you want to do here,Daddy?”

A low rumble comes from his chest, and I shoot him a wink.
