My words are quiet for only him to hear, but the way Simon squeezes my other hand, I can tell he heard. Not that it matters. I’m not trying to hide this from anyone.

The big dark pools of Marcus’ brown eyes fill with emotion, and I think what I’m starting to recognise as love, and he brushes the backs of his fingers over my cheek.

“Thank you for giving me the chance to see who you really are.”

Fucking hell. Marcus Grady is certainly one with words. Fuck, they all are when they want to be. All I can manage is a smile, and I shift to hug him, Simon letting me go so I can share this moment with Marcus.

I don’t care what anyone thinks about me and my guys. We fucking work.

After we get off at Shaun’s stop, we wander up the long drive of Shaun’s family farm, chatting and laughing at unimportant things, when Derek comes speeding up on a 4-wheeler and offers to take our bags on it. But screw that, I want on that thing, so I run up and climb on the back and yell for him to go as I laugh at the guys running after me. We speed up the drive, and I make myselfnotlook over the paddocks to Vixen’s Lodge before we pull into the large open shed that houses a tractor.

“You’re crazy.” Derek chuckles as he cuts the engine, and I climb off.

“You know it.” I grin, righting my uniform as Derek jumps off.

“Come on into the house.” He urges, gesturing his head to the adorable farmhouse. “Let’s get a cold drink before the others make it back.” I nod and grin, following Derek across the yard, and we head inside.

The house is warm, and the scent of cookies makes my tummy rumble, the fresh plate of baked treats calling my name on the counter.

“Hey Mama,” Derek says to the short, frail lady standing over a pot in the kitchen. “You feeling good today?”

“Si.” His mum replies, slowly turning from the stove. The moment her eyes land on me, they widen.

“Friend?” She asks Derek, and he chuckles.

“Mama, this is Rhys. Shaun’s girlfriend.”

“Ella es Hermosa.” His mum says, and I pick up the word Shaun taught me.

Hermosa means beautiful.

“Uh… hi,” I say nervously, shooting her the sweetest smile I can muster and giving her an awkward wave.

“Hola, Rhys.”

“Who do we have here?” The deep rumble of a voice startles me from behind, and I whip around to see the balding man I know as Shaun’s dad.

“Uh… I’m Rhys.”

His brows shoot up. “The girl that has caused so much drama?”

“Allan!” Shaun’s mum snaps, and his dad chuckles.

“I never said it was a bad thing. Although I’d rather Shaun and his mates not fight over a girl.”

“You don’t have to worry about that, Dad.” Shaun’s voice is a relief to hear, and I look around his dad to see Shaun strolling into the house with the others behind him. “We’ve sorted things out.”

Shaun approaches me with a devilish glint in his eye, and he leans down, pressing a kiss to my cheek before moving on. Then Garrett does the same, followed by Simon and finally Marcus.

My cheeks are on fire as I drag my gaze from Shaun’s dad, who seems to have a problem closing his mouth, and I take in Shaun’s mum’s face. She’s grinning.

“Hurra! Maravillosa!” Shaun’s mum cheers, and Shaun and Derek laugh.

“Mama is happy about our arrangement.” Shaun grins, and I’m pretty sure I resemble a glowing red beacon right now.

“Would you like some help, Gabriella?” Simon asks, glancing over Shaun’s mum’s small frame to see what she’s cooking.

“Si.” Gabriella beams and starts talking quietly to Simon about whatever it is she’s cooking.
