“Something wrong?” he asked with a quirk of his brow.

“No,” I lied.

Having sex for the first time with a veritable stranger was one thing. I was fine with it not being all about roses and candlelight. I didn’t really believe in all that love and romance nonsense anyway. But begging this man for sex seemed like something else entirely.

“Good,” he said, then he pulled me close with one quick tug of his hand.

Chapter Nineteen

Raven

His lips swooped in, capturing mine while his hands settled low on my hips.Yes,my mind screamed.

There was something different about his kiss this time, like it was more restrained than before. It seemed to have no less effect, though. Sensation rippled throughout my whole body, feeding a fire that had already begun to burn low in my abdomen. By the time he pulled away, I was breathless and trembling.

My mind was one hundred percent consumed with the man in front of me. Just like I wanted. Even if I shouldn’t.

He took a step back and flashed me a smile that read more like a warning. “Take off your clothes, Raven. I want to seeyou,” he said, his words seeming to echo after that last word. His deep guttural voice vibrated within me, lingering low in my core.

He took another step back, settled in the middle of the light sage-green sofa behind him, and held me in place with his gaze. It had been one thing to stand there and let him undress me. Heat climbed up my neck, no doubt staining my cheeks. I felt like a stripper at a private club. Ice ran through my fingertips.

Then I looked at him. The heat in his eyes as he grazed over my body left me feeling so warm my clothes felt even heavier. They clung to my skin uncomfortably. What would his eyes look like if I did what he asked? I remembered the fire in them when he’d untied my sash and my dressing gown had fallen open. Ilongedto feel the scorch of his gaze on every mound, inch, part of my body.

With fingers that I wished had been steadier, I reached for the buttons that ran down the front of my cream sundress between my breasts. His eyes followed my movement, and it excited me to watch his gaze travel lower with every button I unfastened.

I’d nearly reached my waist before the sides of the fabric parted and my naked breasts spilled out. Nico groaned quietly, sitting up straighter on the sofa.

“Keep going,” he said in that tone that brooked no refusal.

My fingers obeyed, continuing down the column of buttons until I’d flicked open the last one.

Three.

Two.

One.

“Stop,” he said as I moved my arms to let the dress slip to the floor. He stood up and closed the distance between us. “Turn around,” he whispered against my ear.

I complied. Now I couldn’t see him. I couldn’t see the look in his eyes as his fingers slipped the dress down my arms, and it pooled at my feet. I was completely naked. I’d even forgone panties in anticipation of this moment. But now I was holding my breath, waiting for him to say something. To do something.

“What are you thinking?” I asked when the silence had stretched like an elastic inside me, ready to snap.

“I’m thinking that you look incredible, Raven. The most perfect, fuckable thing I’ve ever seen.”

His words raced through my veins like a drug, dangerous and addictive.

He grabbed hold of my hips, and I nearly jolted at the contact. He pressed his body against me from behind. The firm planes of his chest, the hard length of his erection, but it was all muffled by the clothing he still wore.

I wanted him naked, like me. I wanted to feel every groove and contour of his body against mine. When I tried to spin around, his hands held my hips still.

“Not yet. Just stay still like a good girl.” His breath whispered against the back of my neck as he spoke, making me shiver.

The warmth of his breath turned into the softness of his lips pressing down the back of my neck. His teeth nipping at my shoulder. His tongue blazing a fiery trail down my spine.

“Lie down,” he said as my body strove headlong toward combustion.

So caught up in the fire burning inside me, I had to process what he was saying, but the moment his words registered, the fire blazed like an inferno.
