“What the fuck do you want?” Casper barked, grabbing his drink and powering back a good third. I’d always wondered how a man with a name like Casper had ever made his way to the top of the food chain.

“I thought we could have a discussion, man to man.”

“I have nothing to say to you.”

“Then I suggest you listen. First, I need a drink.” I simply glanced at one of the star-struck waitresses and she sidled up against me with more than just taking my order in mind.

“What can I bring you, sir?” she cooed.

“I’ll have what the gentleman is having. Please bring him another with both on my tab. I think he’s going to need it.”

“Yes, sir. Right away, sir.”

Chuckling, I sat back in my seat, reaching into my pocket and removing the fun trinket I’d designed and had created with this meeting in mind. I fiddled with it, rolling the piece between my fingers. I knew it would draw his attention, his curiosity forcing him to lean in closer. I purposely waited, surveying the various assholes who’d taken up space. They were the who’s who of the upper crust society, men who believed they controlled the city.

Of course, they were wrong.

When the drink arrived, I wasn’t surprised the girl’s number had been slipped under the napkin. I handed her a hundred-dollar bill, offering a salacious gaze as the second part of her tip then crumbled the small piece of paper only after she moved away.

This wouldn’t take long.

“Senator, I’ll cut to the chase. We’re both busy men.”

“Please do. I don’t like being seen associated with such…”

I held up my index finger, issuing several tsking sounds. “Be very careful what you say, Casper. I am the man holding all the cards.”

My choice of words had the effect I’d wanted, a single second of terror flashing in his eyes.

“Just say what you need to say!”

His exclamation was meant for the closest tables so as not to confuse our meeting with anything but what it was.

A direct warning.

Or in my mind, a glimpse into the future.

“I’m aware that you not only encouraged the DEA into investing my family’s corporation, but provided legal assistance, or I should say mandated that an undercover agent be placed within our hallowed ranks.” I allowed the statement to sink in.

He managed to laugh, albeit nervously, his hand shaking as he brought his glass to his lips. His hard swallow was a good representation of his nerves. “I did no such thing.”

“Well, we could go back and forth on my belief, but I don’t think that’s necessary. Do you?” I rolled the special coin in my fingers a few more times before easing it onto the table in front of him. “Do you see this coin?”

He barely glanced down at it, but I could tell it registered. “Playing games now?”

“Just like you were. Since we’re both men who seem to enjoy them, I thought you’d get a kick out of catching a glimpse of your future.”

“Fu… Ba…” His face turned red then he managed to get ahold of himself. “Just get this over with.”

“On one side is the word ‘sinner.’ On the other is the word ‘saint.’ Now, I’m offering you a chance to seal your fate rather than me making that determination. We can do this three out of five, two out of three, or a single toss. Which would you prefer?”

“I’m not doing this.”

“If you win, you get to continue enjoying the life you’ve led with all the perks. But if I win, well, let’s just say you should look over your shoulder from time to time.”

He was becoming more agitated, shifting in his seat. “This is crazy.”

“This is how we play a game, Casper. Now, which will it be?” I smiled as I stared into his eyes, able to read every thought running through his mind.
