Before his lips touch mine, I lunge off the couch and take two very large steps away from him. I hear him sigh behind me, but I don’t dare turn around. It’s hard to be strong when he’s scowling at me and I need to be strong for this.

“Okay, what the hell is going on, Alex?”

“Nothing, Seth.”

“Wait.” I hear the couch squeak with Seth’s movement. I can feel his body near mine, feel the energy shift between us. “Are Lucas and Hunter here?” He whispers, sounding panicked.

Oh. My. Fucking. God. He. Has. To. Be. Kidding. Me.

“No, Seth!” I shout while spinning around. “No one is here. It’s just us.”

Seth’s fear dissipates and his eyes narrow on me. He crosses his arms and tilts his head, looking more annoyed than angry. “Okay. What is it now? What’s going on?”

My shoulders slump and I clench my jaw, wanting to tell him he’s a fucking asshole, but I keep my mouth shut. Nothing good will come of arguing with Seth Garcia. It will go in one ear and out the other and if he does understand why I’m upset, he won’t care. It’s all about Seth and how he feels, how it affects him.

“Nothing,” I say while shaking my head. “I’m going for my run.”

I stalk past him as quickly as I can, my hands fisting at my sides, trying to ignore his stare as I run up the staircase. Unfortunately, and surprisingly, I hear Seth following after me. I keep my gaze trained to the floor as I stalk into my room, throwing the door shut behind me.

“What the actual fuck, Alex!” Seth shouts.

I turn around just in time to see him catch the door before it closes in his face. He gapes out me, standing in the doorway while I snatch a pair of running shorts and a tank. Is he going to watch me change? What does he think is going to happen by waltzing in here? I’m not having sex with him, if he thinks that’s what will happen. Sure, angry sex is fun and all, but I’m definitely not in the mood.

“Nothing,” I mutter while pulling off my shirt and quickly changing into my tank. “I don’t want to fight.”

Seth scoffs. “Well, you’re the one who started it.”

I have nothing to say to that, so I continue changing into my track shorts.

“Alex,” I hear Seth say while I look for my running shoes. “Hey, will you just look at me.”

I continue ignoring him. He doesn’t deserve my attention.

“Alex.” I feel his hand on my shoulder and I smack it away.

“Don’t touch me!” I shout.

Seth’s eyes widen and he takes a step back, crossing his arms once again. “Will you tell me what’s going on? You’re being a fucking asshole!”

“You only want me when it’s on your terms.”

Seth’s brows pinch together, confusion blaring back at me. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“You know what it means,” I say while placing my hands on my hips. “You only want me according to your terms and I’m over it.”

Seth laughs darkly. “And what terms are those, Alex?”

“Oh, please.” I roll my eyes. “You only want me if Lucas and Hunter aren’t here, or if you’re in a bad mood and want me to cheer you up, or if you can somehow involve Rachel. Well, Seth, what about me?”

Seth shakes his head. “I-I really don’t understand, Alex.”

I close the distance between us, towering over him, staring into his wide shocked eyes. “What if I want to kiss you when Lucas and Hunter are here? What if I want to touch you during the day rather than in the middle of the night? Without Rachel having to be there all the time?”

Seth blinks up at me, looking mortified. “That… that can’t happen,” he whispers, his gaze drifting away from me and to the floor.

“Why?”

Seth shakes his head. “You know why.”
