I took a deep breath, anger rolling off of me, I wanted to punch something or someone now. I quickly changed into yoga pants and a racer-back tank top. I walked to the mirror, pulling my hair into a quick braid. When I walked back out, Nick was standing holding a punching bag for Luka. “Nick,” I hollered, “will you come tape me up?”

Nick nodded and ran over, kneeling in front of me while I sat down on the bench. He started wrapping my hands. “So what? The two of you are best friends now?” I gestured with my head towards Luka.

“What?” Nick laughed. “No, dad told me what he said to Gabriele, and what can I say, it brought the guy up a notch.”

I rolled my eyes and shook my head. “Or it just means he's an idiot with a death wish.”

“Maybe that too. I bet your dad was pissed. Luka will be on his kill list now. Did he actually say he’d slit his throat?” I nodded. Nick laughed. “Yup, he definitely made the kill list.”

Anyone that pissed my dad off enough went on his kill list. A list he kept locked away in a drawer in his desk, inside a safe. Nick slipped one day and told me Uncle Marco had accidentally told him. Marco was supposed to be the only one who knew about the list. When he finished taping me up, I stood and hopped, getting my blood running through my veins.

I walked toward a punching bag when Michael stepped in front of me. “Wanna spar, princess?”

I looked up at him and shook my head. “No.” I stepped around him.

“Oh, come on, scared you can't handle yourself against a real man?” He glanced at Luka then back at me, a big smile on his face. Luka stopped punching the bag, holding it between his hands, looking between Michael and me.

“Fine,” I walked over, shoving him in the shoulder, making my way to the mat. “Let’s go.”

“Let's go indeed.” He turned around, starting towards me.

Nick stood off to the side shaking his head. Luka walked over next to him, the two of them saying something I was too far away to hear.
