“Say it again, Wilder, I dare you.” Cuy spits. I get up from the couch and stand in front of Cuyler.

“Stop it, I can fight my own battles.” Cuy nods at me. “I’m grateful you care, but he’s your friend.”

Cuy scoffs.

“You’re just lucky you’re Luna's friend.” Wilder adds, and I start to wonder why I don’t just let Cuy rip him to shreds.

I turn to face him, taking a few steps so I’m standing no more than a step away from him. “No, you’re lucky I’m her friend because I’m sure she would love to know the real reason you were treating her like crap.” His gaze zeroes in on me, like he is trying to figure out if I’m bluffing or if I really do know.

“You don’t know shit.” He says, leaning down to get in my face.

“Don’t I? Are you willing to take that chance?” I hold my ground, placing my hands on my hips. I might not know what is fully going on, but I know enough.

“What the fuck is going on?” We all turn to see Diesel standing by the lifts, it must be a sight, me and Wilder in a standoff.

“Why don’t you ask her and Cuyler what goes on when you’re not around.” Wilder snaps and storms off to his room.

“Cyrus,” he asks, not taking his eyes off me. He can’t decide if he should be pissed or concerned about me.

“I’m sorry, I can’t do this right now.” I can’t do this, not today. I run to our room and hide under the covers. I just want to hide in my room, watch movies, and stuff my face full of every flavoured ice cream Zeke could find.

Diesel storms straight in the room, the door rebounding off the wall is a dead giveaway he is pissed. Why can’t he see that Cuyler and I are just friends, and it’s him that ignites a fire in me.

“Are you fucking him?” He demands. I don’t need to be able to see him to know he’s standing there with his no bullshit stance.

“I’m not even fucking you. Why is everything always about fucking with guys? Did you ever just think a girl just wants to stay in her room and cry, watch movies, and eat every shitty-flavoured ice cream she can find and sleep in a cloud fort, huh? Did you ever think about that?” I throw the covers back and jump out of bed towards him like a damn spider monkey. In hindsight, you don’t surprise attack Diesel Briar because he won’t catch you, you just fall on your ass. Zeke, on the other hand, knew me, and every time we would fight, I would hide under the blanket and jump out when he came into the room. He would catch me and all would be right again.

He looks down at me with a smirk on his face.

“It’s not funny, you asshole, just get the fuck out.” He turns and walks out. Well, there is a first time for everything. He actually listened, that makes me cry because what sort of shitty ass kind of boyfriend just leaves their girl upset, the kind that is only playing games. That’s who. And I just referred to him as my boyfriend when I don’t even know what we are yet.

I must look and sound like a psycho ranting to myself, crying, snotty, and laughing like a maniac. “You can’t make this shit up!” I scream.

By the time I’m done with my mental breakdown, the room looks like a tornado hit it, and I may have fallen asleep on the floor. I pick myself up and look around. My stomach grumbles, and I decide cleaning is not a ‘now’ problem. I may need to fix Diesel's side of the room before he gets back from school.

If you skip a day at Briar and you’re sick, a nurse will come to check on you, but if you skip intentionally, you get a trip to see Miss Baron. Which I’m willing to risk since my mental state right now is shit.

I leave my room in search of something I can eat. Stopping dead in my tracks, I blink a few times to take in what is going on. All the guys are in their pyjamas or lack of clothes, Lux is arguing about what pillows to use, and Huntley and Draven look scared of her.

“Um, what’s going on?” I ask, and they all stop and turn my way. Before anyone can say anything, the lift opens, and Luna walks out with Wilder. She is in her Pj’s too and holding a bag.

“I have supplies, tissues, lollies, popcorn.” She says, emptying the bag on the kitchen bench. Diesel appears beside me.

“You did this?” I whisper in awe. I can’t believe he did this for me. Maybe I’m totally wrong about him. Why would a guy who is playing me go to all this effort?

“With some help. If my girl wants fluffy blankets, sad movies, shitty ass ice cream, then that is what she will get. I might not know why this is specifically what you need, but it doesn’t matter. You’re one of us now, and we are all here for you.” Cuyler must have explained why I was having a breakdown. Diesel knew what today was, but everyone reacts differently to grief.

Rebel jumps over the couch and wraps his arms around both Diesel and I, pulling us in for a hug. “I vote we watchThe Notebookfirst.”

“How many times has that movie gotten you laid?” I laugh when he shrugs.

“I will not incriminate myself, let's get this movie day on. I actually want to see how the movie ends for once.” Everyone laughs, and Lux throws a pillow at Rebel, which he catches and uses behind his head.

“I need to get changed first.” I say, I don’t want to be lying around in snot-covered clothes.

Diesel follows me to our room. I forget about the mess until the door opens, and he looks around. “Um, so I guess I can’t get changed right now.”

“For someone so small, you sure made a colossal mess. But you need to take that shirt off, I may do something stupid if I see you in his clothes.” I look down and realise I’m wearing Cuyler’s shirt.
