He doesn’t answer, he just stares at me pondering if that is really something that I would do. He doesn’t know me well enough to know I would give it all up in a heartbeat before I slept with him. Money, power, and status all mean jack shit to me.

The empty cafeteria now consists of Luna, Sax, his friend, who hasn’t said a damn word, and myself. The doors slide open and a sea of Alphas walk in, some from each year level.

“Luna,” I whisper. “Go and find Wilder and talk to him.”

“But.”

“No buts, just go deal with it.”

She nods, and just as she gets up from her seat, he walks through the doors. She storms over to him, grabbing him by the arm and drags him out of the door. Sax leans back in his chair and throws his feet onto the table. His gaze watches the door as the Alphas place themselves around the room, blocking the exit points.

Diesel walks in, and he looks towards our table. “Do you think that murderous glare is for you or me?” Sax says with a chuckle. He knows damn well it’s not for me, Diesel wouldn’t go to all of this trouble for a girl.

“Sax, I challenge you to a fight,” Diesel says, and Sax just laughs at him.

“Why would you do that? You’re top of the leaderboard. You would also need a past Alpha and an upcoming head Alpha to back you, but that also risks their points.”

“I’ll do it,” a young kid says, stepping forward.

Sax scoffs. “You would risk your ranking for Diesel? Kid, use your brain.”

“That’s your problem, you think like an Elite. I was raised that if your leader needs you, you do whatever it takes.”

“Okay, so you have the kid. Who else do you have?”

Emory steps through the door, and Sax loses it. “Really, Jesus, Diesel, you really scraped the bottom of the barrel. I’m offended, Uncle.”

Emory shrugs. “Better the devil I know.”

“When and where?” Sax asks. “And what are the terms?”

“Right here, right now, and no terms. Loser walks away because they wouldn’t have enough points to be in the fights anymore.”

Sax gets up from his seat and loosens his tie, pulling it over his head and throwing it on the table, along with his school blazer and button-up t-shirt. Diesel does the same, and the rest of the Alphas start dragging tables and stacking them in front of the door and clearing enough room to form a circle. Luckily the cafeteria is massive, and before long, Diesel and Sax are circling each other. I push my way through the Alphas and get a ring side view.

Sax bounces on his toes. “Hey, Cyrus, tell Diesel what you just told me, you know, about giving all your money to charity and marrying some random. That way the Jamison name is useless to you.”

Diesel looks at me, and Sax uses the opportunity to throw a right hook at his cousin's face, causing him to stumble back. Ryot stabilises him and pushes him back towards Sax.

“She can try,” Diesel snarls. “But right now, how about we talk about you knocking up Belle.”

Punches are thrown between taunts, along with a few kicks to the legs.

“You want to talk about how she couldn’t get enough of my cock, that’s a bit much even for you.”

“You’re my cousin, you should have been on my side.”

“Diesel, you were never on my side. It’s always been you against the world. She came to me for comfort, a shoulder to cry on.”

“Stop fucking lying, no one would ever willingly come to you.” Diesel seethes, moving forward, no longer willing to let his cousin keep talking. He rains down on him, all while Sax just laughs.

Wild banging on the doors indicates that word has gotten out that students have barricaded themselves in the cafeteria.

“You know, Bambi, for a guy who doesn’t care about you, he sure is going to a lot of trouble to make sure you’re his.”

“Cuy, he wants me as a possession, to play with me and show me I can’t ever trust him as payback for not telling him about his father.”

“Nah, I have known him for a long time, and he isn’t the kind of guy that would waste his time on someone he doesn’t give a shit about. There are plenty of random girls he could fight for and taunt for the fun of it. This fight, he will have to answer to his father. He is risking everything he has built while here at Briar. His points keep him at the top as Alpha. If he loses his points, he loses his status. This seems like a declaration of his feelings to me.”
