“I’ll change that, baby,” he says after me, but not loud enough to attract any other’s attention.

Hazen is in the kitchen when I finally make it out. He towers over Fenric, helping him cook breakfast. He looks up at me, eyes wandering my face. Then he flashes a beautiful smile, probably determining I’m not sad or upset.

I return the smile and look down at Fenric. I almost lost him… My brothers mean a lot to me, even if it doesn’t seem like it with me leaving. I don’t know what I would do without them.

Pillars of the Palace of Hades collapse all around me. Bricks that my father laid come down in a heaping mess. The fields that Persephone took time to grow are burned to the last ash.

Asura…

My body turns to the call of my name. The voice isn’t one I recognize. A gust of wind surrounds me, taking the air from my lungs.

It will be mine.

The horrid scene of Hades’s home collapsing changes into the obsidian throne room in my home… The throne… Someone wants my—

My body is slammed against the wall, making me jolt awake. Ledger’s heat hugs my back while Hazen’s lightning dances across my chest. I had fallen asleep in a cocoon of safety with my two hellhounds on each side of me.

Asura…a familiar voice dances in my skull.

Is Ozias nearby?I slowly climb out of bed, slipping out the bottom of the bed before moving to the bathroom. Glancing back, I make sure my men are asleep. A breeze flies in when I open the window, sticking my head out. My eyes scan the roof.Did I imagine it?

“I could show you the world.” Ozias’s voice makes me jolt and twist to the side. Smirking, he holds out his hand.

Rolling my eyes, I slap his hand. I don’t need help. I show him I don’t need him by climbing out by myself. The icy roof sends shivers down my spine and the breeze doesn’t make it better.

Together, we get to the landing and part of me is already regretting leaving without a robe or jacket.

“Here,” Ozias says, shrugging off his jacket and putting it on my shoulders. Seems like the cold doesn’t bother someone cold-blooded.

“Thanks.”

“I heard about the attack,” he says, leaning into me. “Are you okay?”

I nod. “As okay as I’ll ever be. Fen almost died, and I felt like… I couldn’t save him.”

“But he’s okay, right?”

With a huff, I nod again. “I don’t know how he’s okay, but he is.”

“Asura,” Ozias says, cupping my cheek and drawing my attention to him. “That’s all that matters. That you both are safe.”

I can’t help but stare at him, eyes lowering to his lips. I always wondered what he would taste like, and how our mouths would feel against each other. You know, teenage hormonal stuff.

But he takes it further, leaning into me. “I don’t know what I would do if you got hurt.”

“Ozias.” I try to pull away, but he holds me firmly against him.

“Could you listen to me once in your fucking life, Asura?”

My head shakes. “I don’t want to hear it again, Oz. We won’t ever—”

“Be anything. Yeah, yeah. First it was Khazon. You didn’t want to hurt him. Now it’s these two random hellhounds who share you.”

My brows bounce. It still blows my mind.

“When is it ever going to be me?”

A sigh escapes my lips. My mind feels like a beehive. Ryker wants me, wants to take me out on a date. Everyone is telling me that Khazon loves me. I have two hellhounds—one on my team—and two others that fucking hate me. I have too much going on. On top of that… Fenric almost died. I’d rather not think of men too much. “I can’t do this right now.”
