By now, the whole club knew about the warning. Nikita reached out to her FBI contacts and promised to get security footage from nearby businesses. In the meantime, Rubble sent over a dozen Macha members and prospects to clean up and board the windows until replacements could be found. It all aggravated Brewer more by the minute.

He clenched the handlebars tight and pulled into the hospital lot. Parking, he discarded his helmet and sprinted toward the door. He wasn’t about to let someone hurt any of Macha’s family who were inside.

Finding Isa’s room, he sighed a breath of relief when he noticed Doc outside, his face grim.

“Brewer, glad to see you.” He hugged him with one arm. “Rubble filled me in on the situation.”

“Thanks for keeping an eye on her.” Brewer glanced around the room, relaxing slightly when he saw the woman who made his pulse quicken. “I’ll take Delphi back to the clubhouse.”

“She won’t like it,” Jupiter said, poking her nose out the door.

“She won’t like it at all,” Delphi added, joining her friend.

“Tough nuts.” Brewer folded his arms over his chest. “You’re coming back with me and staying by my side until we have this figured out.”

Delphi shook her head defiantly. “Hell no. I have a restaurant to run. If that means we relocate until windows are in, then fine. We can set up tables on the lawn and serve outside. The weather’s been cooperating lately.” She grinned, clearly proud of herself for thinking up the scheme. “A romantic, starlit dinner will be a big hit. It’ll help make some extra cash too.”

Brewer ran his fingers through his hair, yanking on it slightly to keep from barking orders. That wasn’t who he was. He barely got involved in fights, let alone protection detail, but for some reason this was different. This was Delphi, and her life meant something more to him. “If I have to toss you over my shoulder, I will.”

She crossed her arms over her breasts and narrowed her gaze. “You wouldn’t dare.”

“Don’t bet on it, sweet cheeks.” He took a step closer, eyes never deviating from her stubborn ones. “I’d enjoy it, and I know my brothers would too.”

For a brief second, Brewer was worried she’d resist him. Instead, Delphi exchanged a glance with Jupiter, who shrugged, before she sighed in defeat.

“Fine, but I was serious about not closing.” She shook her finger at him, and he pushed down the urge to kiss it. “My restaurant can’t afford to lose customers.”

“Why don’t you make food for the club instead?” a new voice chimed in from behind him.

Turning, Brewer never thought he’d be glad to see Boulder, the club treasurer.

“I came to see the baby,” Boulder said, holding up a pink gift bag. “But I’m serious. It’ll give Queenie and the girls some rest and with the picnic this weekend. We could all use some of that.”

Knowing Boulder wouldn’t suggest it if the club couldn’t afford it, Brewer nodded. “I think it’s a great idea. Delphi, you still get cash in the door while your windows get fixed, and Macha gets food. Win-win situation.”

“I agree. Delphi’s food is the best,” Isa called from the hospital room.

Brewer looked around Jupiter and Delphi to see Isa nodding with a smile on her face, the newborn glued to her chest. “If Isa approves, you know it’s kosher.”

“That does seem like a no-brainer,” Delphi finally relented. “All right. I hope the club likes French food because that’s all I have to offer.”

Boulder patted his big belly and walked toward the room. “We like all food, don’t worry about that.”

Everyone laughed, even Brewer. A weight lifted from his shoulders, but then pressed back down when Delphi walked his way. Her expression was frustrated, no doubt from the way he spoke to her.

“Delphi—”

“Save it, Macha man.” She brushed past him, her focus on the exit. “I need to clean up the restaurant. My staff is probably working overtime.”

“Already taken care of,” Doc said, waving his phone. “Rubble just sent a message saying they have it covered.”

Delphi turned around but didn’t look altogether pleased by being thwarted. “Okay, but I need to pick up some clothes.”

“We can do that.”

“You have it all figured out, don’t you?” She rolled her eyes, and Brewer swore then and there he’d bend her over and smack her ass for more than one rebellious act that afternoon.

“When it comes to your safety, yes, I do.” He waved goodbye to the rest of his family, then followed her out the doors. Delphi was a strong, independent entrepreneur, but he’d make sure she understood the severity of the situation. Protecting her would either drive him insane or bring them closer.
