“Ready to see you now, if you like,” a deep voice rumbled behind me.

Fuck.

I quickly minimised the instant message window while I fought the blush creeping up my neck.

Mrs Hamilton beamed at Dr Harry over my shoulder.

“A younger model than Doc Larcombe,” she purred.

“Good looker, too,” Mrs Marsden added, waiting at the counter.

“Please, call me Rita.” Mrs Hamilton then giggled.

I huffed. He had all the women fluttering.

Harry cleared his throat and leaned on my desk. I turned his way, taking a deep breath. God, he smelled good. His cologne was spicy, mixed with a hint of sweat and leather.

I fluttered, too. Everywhere.Damn it.

“Nurse Turner, could you retrieve Mrs Hamilton’s file for me, please? I seem to be missing it.”

I stood about to head to the records room.

“And, when you have a moment today,” Harry paused, his voice low so Mrs Hamilton and Mrs Marsden couldn’t overhear. “I’d like to discuss the very important issue about the orgasm emergency you’re having at work.”

My cheeks throbbed bright red now.

“That was a private message,” I hissed.

Harry stepped back, his eyes flicking to Mrs Hamilton.

“Let me take you to Room Two, Rita. Nurse Turner, please bring the file down as soon as you can.” Harry offered his arm to Mrs Hamilton who took it with delight.

“I’ll process the charge for today soon. Mrs Marsden. Won’t be long.”

I scribbled Mrs Hamilton’s patient record number and set off for the file room, producing the file in thirty seconds, and walked to his room and knocked.

Harry opened the door and reached for the file, but I held on.

“I’m sorry about that message,” I whispered.

He said nothing. His gaze was unnerving.

“I … umm … it wasn’t professional,” I added. I let go of Mrs Hamilton’s file and was about to flee the scene when Harry spoke.

“I’m just glad to hear that everything on Saturday was satisfactory to your needs, which we’ll discuss later.” And then he winked before closing the door.

I gawked at the woodgrain of the door, flustered.

Someone cleared their throat behind me.

“Everything alright?” Pam asked, carrying a pile of patient files.

“Yes, perfectly fine.” I nodded, moving towards my desk. “Everything is good.”

Pam cut off my escape. “Tell me truthfully.”Don’t ask me about the new doctor.“How did your specialist appointments go last week?”

I breathed out, relieved. “They were fine. I’ll be fine. I won’t be going back for the experimental trial. I was unsuitable.”
