I sit down in my chair and pull her chair over to me. I rub her arms with my hands to try to calm down her nerves, but it doesn’t seem to be working.
Fuck it.
I slide my arm around her body and scoop her into my lap, holding her as close as I can. I want her to feel my heartbeat. I want my body to regulate hers. I want to use the warmth of my skin to soothe her.
Whatever I can do to make her feel okay, I will do it.
I run a hand over her hair.
Lennon turns her head into my chest and tries to breathe.
We can’t hear anything from in here. No rain. No thunder.
Maybe that’s a good thing.
All we can do is wait for an update.
But while we wait, I’ll hold her for as long as she needs me.
I will not let go.
When we finally get an update, it feels like ages passed us by.
“Attention… Attention all students and faculty…. Please be advised that at this time tornado warning has been lifted. We are grateful that there were no reports of tornadic activity on campus. You are now free to resume your regularly scheduled activities. Thank you.”
I feel the relief of air leaving Lennon’s body.
She finally relaxes.
“It’s okay,” I whisper. “You’re okay.”
Lennon sits up in my lap and faces me. Tears stain her face.
Tension still fills the room.
I haven’t been this close to her since the night we kissed.
I haven’t even looked at her this long or this closely since then, either.
And something takes over me.
I reach for her as she reaches for me.
Our mouths collide.
I feel her lean behind me and lock the door.
My hands find the edges of her shirt and pull upward. She lifts her arms for me, revealing a simple, pink bra underneath.
She tugs at my shirt, but I’m pinned beneath her and the chair.
She moves and I rip my shirt off. I watch her eyes widen at the full scope of my body. I smile.
Now that she’s standing, I take advantage. I slide off her shorts and quickly slide her onto the table so that she’s sitting in front of me. Her lips kiss my shoulder blade as I move her.
“I’ve wanted this for so long,” I tell her.
“I’m a virgin,” she tells me quickly, a look of worry on her face.
