I put my hands on the keyboard and begin to play the intro to a song I started writing a few weeks ago. It’s got a soulful vibe to it that I’ve never really tried before. Mom’s been playing a lot of Janis Joplin around the house, and it’s all that’s been on my mind lately.
As I play, Liam starts to hum in his deep voice. It’s a little off key, but I love the way it sounds. Once I finish the intro, it picks up a bit, and I start to sing along.
Sweet summer boy
With your eyes so full
You’ve got the look of a man
And the touch of a bull
You take what you want
You give all you’ve got
Sweet summer boy
I know how much you care
You love with a force
of a thousand volts
Your eyes show your soul
And your lips tell a tale
Sweet summer boy
You’re gonna go far
Sweet summer boy
Don’t let your dreams pass you by.
If you do, you’ll regret
All the time that you spent
Sitting alone with your heart on the fence.
Sweet summer boy
Your eyes full of joy
Take in life while you can
And go where you please
Sweet summer boy
You’re going to go far.
Sweet summer boy
Don’t forget me when you go.
Sweet summer boy
