“Looks like a party,” Jonah says, grabbing a pillow to whack Leo in the back with. “You’re usually asleep by now, Scarlett.”

He’s right. Early to bed, early to rise because of fucking classes. His class, actually. It’s the earliest one I have, and only because I needed it to finish up my degree.

“I just couldn’t. It’s...everything.” I wave my hand at my body. “Omega shit.” My face warms with the words. “I’m antsy. Hungry. Horny. Maybe I’m overtired, even.”

“What can we do to help? Do you have enough pillows? Ezra said you took all of his. I have extras if you want,” Jonah says, his voice deepening. “What about blankets?”

He’s asking without really asking if I’m starting to create what I like to call my safe spot. The strange, all-consuming act of nesting has come and gone a couple of times tonight, but I just couldn’t get my room perfect. It’s why I came to Adrian.

“I like the blue one.” I raise my eyebrow, watching his reaction, because I know that the blue pillow on his bed is his absolute favorite. It’s the only one I’ve ever seen him use.

Adrian gasps a laugh, his shoulders shaking. “You better go get it for her, Joe. We all agreed that we will do whatever it takes to make her comfortable. Even if it means we lose all our bedding and have to sleep on the cold floor.”

“Never. I might just ask for a cuddle pile. You can be my bed. All of you. I like to spread out.” I spread my arms and hop back on the bed, pulling the blankets to wrap myself up like a burrito.

As if Dominic and Ezra know we’re all in here, I hear their voices sound from the hallway. My heart picks up pace, my anticipation growing as all of my alphas unintentionally gravitate together in front of me.

My heart falters the second I peek out of my cocoon and meet Ezra’s eyes. He shakes his head, forcing himself to smile. The others look at him, their smiles fading, sensing the same thing I do. That something’s wrong.

“Amore, would you mind if I steal everyone for just a couple of minutes?” Ezra ruffles his fingers through his dark curly hair. “I promise I’ll make it up to you.”

I sit up, yanking the blanket off to free my arms. “What’s wrong?”

Dominic steps forward and kisses my temple like he can’t resist coming into the room without showing me affection. “It’s nothing. Boring contract stuff.”

I wouldn’t usually call someone out, but I’ve grown comfortable and brave with my alphas. “Don’t lie. I can smell your scent, and something bothers you.”

Leo play-growls. “Come on, dirty girl. Cut him some slack. We just want you to relax. You’re obviously stressed out and exhausted, so let us take care of you by keeping away anything that could possibly mess with your head.”

Narrowing my eyes, I burn him a look. “You’re going to stress—“

Adrian touches my shoulder, towering over me. “Give us five minutes. Let me hear what Ezra has to tell me, and then I will decide whether or not it can wait until morning. Please, Scarlett. Leo is right. You’re exhausted and need to rest up. Save your energy.”

I feel so small, sitting on the bed with the five of them towering around me, their scents practically enveloping me in a way that makes me comply with my nature as their omega.

I flick my hand and sit back on the bed, crossing my arms over my chest. I try not to look bratty, but I want them to know that it does bother me. Had I been able to sleep, they would’ve had a pack meeting without me.

But maybe it’s because it is about me.

Fuck.

Ezra squeezes my foot through the blanket, and I watch as the five of them exit the room into the hallway. Adrian closes the door behind him. I listen to them stroll away, probably heading to one of their rooms or even the library.

Something buzzes in the bed, and I remember I had tucked my phone away in my pillow. It’s a habit I can’t seem to break, because I always want to be able to respond to my sisters if I have to.

Unknown: You alone?

Goosebumps prickle over my skin at the text. I fucking loathe unknown numbers. I don’t even have to ask to know who the psycho on the other side of the line is.

Unknown: Don’t be shy. I know you are.

I get up, wrapping the blanket around me.

Unknown: I could come in, and no one would even know.

Shit. Shit. Shit.

Unknown: Used bitches still make great fucks.
