He’s crazy if he thinks I’m going to let somebody else do this. I need to do this. I need his fucking blood on my hands. I need to end his life myself so I can move on. I deserve to be able to move on and know this man of my nightmares will no longer threaten me.

“I can’t. Please, I can’t. It has to be me.” I growl and shake my head, trying to inflict as much pain as I can on Rocco as he flails. “If you want to help me, hold him still.”

“It’ll be our honor to allow you to punish your tormentor, Eliana.” Slater’s voice swirls through my mind next, and his shadow stretches next to me, his huge wolf form twice as big as mine.

“Together as an alliance.” Ravi transforms beside me, slamming his huge paws into Rocco, forcing him down.

“As my pack.” I keep the thought to myself. But I need to remind myself. These alphas will relent. If they’re dead-set on trying to build something with me, it’ll be my way. My pack.

“As her possible alphas, we give her permission to end the life of the wolf who tried to end hers. Do you understand wolfpacks of Shadow Moon? He will return to the stars.” Slater’s voice booms louder than ever in my mind, and I realize he’s projecting it to everyone in the room. Maybe even everyone in the world. I don’t know how far a thought can go, but it feels so...final. All-consuming. Like the ultimate authority, though I know it’s not. It’s him stacking a claim on me and giving me permission to act on his behalf. I should be angry, but I’m not. I’m thankful he doesn’t try to stop me. He doesn’t ask me to back down. Instead, he lifts me up. So does Ravi. The two of them team up together and pin Rocco down.

“Please, stop. Show me mercy. Show my pack mercy. I understand where my place is. I will not challenge any of you again.” Rocco’s soft voice swirls through my mind. I wish he would get out of my head. I don’t need his pleas. I don’t want to hesitate for even a second. I must end him. Now.

“Like you showed us mercy? Fuck you. Fuck you, you bastard. You’re unworthy.” Releasing my jaw, I whip my head back down, sinking my teeth harder into his throat until he falls still. Blood seeps across my mouth, pouring from Rocco’s fur to spread around him.

I snuff his life out, feeling the power of destroying such an awful being coursing through me. I can’t believe I did this.

And it wasn’t just for me. It was for everyone he has killed. Everyone he has tormented. Everyone he has abused. This is for Kellan. For Davian. For all the unnamed humans I will never know that fell to his savage ways.

My legs give out on me, and I sprawl across the cool tiles, letting my body transform back into a human. Silence fills the air, the weight of an alpha’s death hanging heavy on everyone. I know some of them mourn. Some will freak out. But all I care about is the soft breath of relief that seems to blow through the air, caressing my skin and cooling the hot rage burning inside me.

“It’s over, princess. Come here. Let me help you.” Ravi slides his hands under me and lifts me into his arms. “I’ll get you out of here.”

Ravi doesn’t get the chance to take more than a few steps before Serena materializes in front of us, blocking our way.

She holds up her palm, daring Ravi to try and get past her. “We are not finished here, lykoswulf. There are two matters at hand. One being the repopulation of your species and the permanent bond to this she-wolf.”

“Those matters will be dealt with. I assure you. Eliana is mine. She has bowed to me.” Ravi growls in warning.

“She also carries the offspring of another alpha...and a human.” Serena risks facing Ravi’s wrath, closing the space completely. She surprises the hell out of me by touching her palm to my stomach.

I jerk in Ravi’s arms, but I can’t get her away. Light sparkles over my middle and a strange pulsing sensation crawls over me. Heartbeats. Three. My own and two other faint ones.

This can’t be. The time doesn’t add up for such a thing.

“You hear them, don’t you?” Serena asks, stroking her finger along my cheek. “The fathers will as well.”

I open and close my mouth. “How? How is any of this possible so soon? Or at all?”

“Now is not the time for questions that can wait. Your alpha will teach you everything.” Serena curls her fingers in, muting the sound of the heartbeats.

Everyone focuses on us, devouring the conversation as if it’s any of their businesses. If my body wasn’t still in shock, I’d fight against Ravi and scream at them to fuck off. But I can’t find the will. I just want to be held. Coddled. I want nothing more than to be carried out of this place, have a bath drawn, and to eat something hot in bed. At this point, I’d even accept such a night from Ravi. Maybe Slater too.

Did I really just think about having both men tend to me as if I’m some helpless little thing? Maybe. It shouldn’t sound so good, but I’m tired.

“Who will it be? Both of you have expressed the desire to bond with Eliana.” Serena looks at Ravi and Slater.

“You mentioned another alpha?” Blathos chimes in, striding from the podium. “One who already proved he was suitable by impregnating her.”

I intake a breath, feeling Ravi’s arms stiffen around me. A rumble vibrates from his chest, and he straightens his back. Slater reaches out and rests his hand on Ravi’s shoulder, stopping him from reacting, though annoyance rushes from him to me. Chase is not the alpha of the Sunset Pointe pack, and it gets under his skin that the council refers to Chase as an alpha at all.

“You’re mistaken.” Slater steps forward, getting between Ravi and Serena. Why am I surprised he does it? “The pup has potential to be an alpha but is merely a member of the Sunset Pointe pack. He was blessed the last full moon.”

“Interesting.” Dawn flies from the platform next, her wings sending a gust of flowery fragrance over me.

I turn my gaze toward the alphas in the room, the lot of them standing tall and rigid, on guard. Their attention on me gets under my skin. I wish someone would send them away already.

Ravi huffs. “Chase is not an option. He can’t care for her accordingly. She needs a strong pack—”
