I huffed out an annoyed sigh. “It’s obvious we’re not, huh?”

“Definitely.”

“Okay, I do have a lot to tell you. I’m in a tentative relationship with him.”

“What does that mean?” Lou asked as she wrinkled up her nose.

“We have feelings for each other, and now he’s running scared. Don’t worry. Ruben knows all about it. In fact, he’s involved in it too,” I assured her.

Lou gasped. “Ruben’s involved with a guy?”

“Yeah, it turns out he’s bisexual. Also…”

Louisa sensed my anxiousness and patted my arm. “Sienna, whatever it is, you know you can tell me.”

I drew in a deep breath and released it slowly. I lowered my voice as I spoke, “I’m bi, as well. I’m involved with a beautiful woman and four men. Ruben knows all about it. He’s involved, and kind of left orders for the guys to look out for me, especially since the paparazzi have been after me lately.”

“Oh, Sienna, wow.” Lou gripped her hands together with a grin. “I’m so happy for you. Non-monogamy is not without its challenges, but as you know, I think it’s worth it if you’ve found the right people.”

“I didn’t actively seek it out.”

“Neither did I,” Lou countered.

We shared knowing looks. It made me glad to be on the same page as Louisa. Our friendship could only grow stronger because of yet another thing we had in common.

Our meals and drinks arrived, and we gossiped while we ate.

“So, tell me about these people who are sharing your heart,” Lou said between bites of her duck.

I waved my hand in the direction Augustus had gone. “Well, you’ve just met Augustus, the sexiest yet most pompous guy of all. He’s rich, and he’s desired by half the country, and he knows it. He’s a pain in the ass, but he seems to always be there for me when I need him. The only thing is, he’s not the most forthcoming with his feelings. In fact, he’s so hot and cold that sometimes I think he’s scared of those feelings.”

“Harris struggles that way as well. He’ll come around,” Louisa said.

“Well, I hope so. Ruben said he’d teach him a lesson otherwise.”

Lou released a naughty laugh.

“Then there’s Jeremy. He’s a tall, Thor-like London guy who’s an ex-Marine, turned band manager. He is dead sexy. Cruz is the band’s lead singer, Jeremy’s cousin and Aug’s older brother. He’s super intelligent and creative.”

Lou held up her hand. “I met Jeremy and Cruz the other night at Electric Carousel, right?”

“Yeah, that’s them.”

She released a puff of breath. “Wow, there was some serious chemistry between you and them.”

“I know.”

“Tell me about the woman.”

“Riva.” I set my fork down. “She’s a tall, slim redhead from the north. She’s much younger than me but wise beyond her years and has a kind of grace that… that’s like she’s from another era, you know? But at the same time, she has a youthful excitement. I’ve never been attracted to a woman before now. She blindsided me, Lou. I never thought—”

When Lou noticed me begin to stress, she squeezed my wrist. “Hey, no judging from me, remember? I think it’s wonderful. I think it will be even better if it all works out for you, and I’m positive it will.”

I drew in a deep, steadying breath. “Thanks, girl.”

We finished our meals in comfortable silence. I wasn’t sure what Lou was thinking about, but I rolled her words around in my brain. I knew things would work out with Ruben, Jeremy, and Riva. Things were still new with Cruz, but things with Augustus concerned me.

We sparked so well off each other. We were passionate lovers and passionate fighters. Yet, he left me with a strange kind of anxiety. When I wasn’t in his presence, I often caught myself wondering if our budding relationship was such a good idea. But as soon as I was with him, all those thoughts disappeared as if by magic. I’d never felt this kind of feeling before, and it was a little unsettling.
