“I can tell,” Tanner said. “I thought that you were going to pounce on the poor woman when she said that she was going to have a shower.”

“I thought about it,” he said. “I’m sorry about waking you up this morning, but I didn’t know what to do when I found her standing in the hallway. When I realized that we were going to be working out together, all I could think about was waking you up to let you know. I didn’t want you to feel as if I was trying to pull a fast one and spend time alone with her.”

“I appreciate that, Dec,” Tanner said. “I’m just thankful that I don’t actually have to work out this morning. I was down here until the wee hours, running on the treadmill. I’m still tired from that workout.”

“I’m going to head up to shower. You coming?” Declan asked.

“Right behind you,” Tanner said. “I don’t know how people get up this early. I’m starving.”

“Yeah,” Declan said. “Welcome to the land of the living. When you get up early, you tend to eat breakfast. How about you get a shower and then come on over to my room? I’ll order us some room service and we can go over today’s activities.” Tanner couldn’t help his smile. “What?” Declan asked.

“I should have known that you weren’t going to leave our little day trip up to chance, man,” he said. “You probably have the day mapped out by some ridiculous schedule. Am I right?” Tanner asked.

“No,” Declan said, “fine, yes,” he admitted. “I just want to show Shelby a good time.”

“I’m sure she’ll like whatever you come up with but keep your eye on the prize. We need to convince her to spend time with both of us and to let us share her. If you run her all over town, all she’s going to want when we get back here is a nap.”

“Fine, you can look at what I’ve come up with and then cut things as you see fit,” Declan offered.

“Really?” Tanner asked.

“Yep—just don’t forget to keep up the rouse that you don’t know much about the city. We don’t want her putting her guard up before we even get our chance with her,” Declan said.

“Got it,” Tanner agreed. “Lie my ass off and don’t fuck up our chances. What can go wrong?” he asked.

“Well, fuck,” Declan grumbled. “Now, you’ve jinxed us.”
