Shelby

Shelby spent a little extra time getting ready. She usually opted to pull her long hair up in a messy bun, but she left it down today, even putting on some makeup. Working as a maid didn’t afford her the luxuries like wearing makeup and nice clothes. She usually just washed her face and went to work, but today was different. Today, she was going to spend the day with two of the sexiest men she had ever met.

She was shocked that either of them wanted to spend time with her. They were both way out of her league, although, she’d never say those words aloud. They seemed to be well off and two of the nicest guys she’d ever met. Her only problem would be not falling for both of them. She found both of them hot as hell. She’d even caught herself daydreaming about being caught up between the two of them, but that wasn’t something that she’d ever admit to either of them.

Shelby had been alone for so long now; she was beginning to forget what it felt like to be with someone. She’d never even thought about the possibility of two someones. She had been so busy in Paris with work, she had forgotten to have any fun—she wasn’t even sure she still knew how to have fun. Shelby grabbed her jacket and bag, making sure that she had her wallet and room key, and headed out. She opened her door and didn’t find either of the guys out in the hallway. For a split second, she worried that they had changed their minds. Shelby knocked on Declan’s door and when he opened it and smiled at her, she wasn’t sure if she wanted to run or invite herself in.

“Sorry,” he said. “Room service was a little slow getting here. Can you give us just a few minutes?” he asked.

“Um, sure,” she said. “I can just go back to my room. Come get me when you both are ready.” She turned to leave his room and Declan reached for her hand, pulling her back against his body. Everywhere that he touched felt like little bolts of electricity making her skin tingle.

“Or you can stay here and hang out with us,” he offered.

“I don’t want to cramp your style,” she said.

Declan chuckled and she wondered what she said that was so funny. “No one talks like that anymore, honey,” Declan teased. “I haven’t heard that saying for ages.”

“Well, it’s something that my mother used to say all the time,” she defended.

“Say that you’ll stay,” Declan asked again. “I promise that you won’t cramp my or Tanner’s style.”

“If you’re going to make fun of me, I’ll just leave,” she said, smiling up at him.

“Not making fun of you, honey. Just having some fun,” Declan assured.

“I know,” she said. “I just like to keep you on your toes,” she said. He chuckled and nodded.

“Come on in,” he offered, leading her into his suite. She was just there yesterday, to clean his room, but this felt more personal.

“Are you hungry?” Tanner asked. “We ordered extra.”

“Um, no,” she lied. She had a yogurt because the kitchen was backed up and she didn’t want to keep the guys waiting. Her treacherous tummy gave her away with a long, angry growl. “Traitor,” she mumbled, causing the guys to laugh.

“Honestly, Shelby,” Declan said. “Just sit down and have some breakfast with us. It will make me feel less like an ass for dragging you around Paris today. You’ll need all your energy to keep up with us.” Images of her trying to keep up with the two of them while naked in bed played through her mind and she shook her head as if trying to shake them out.

“You okay?” Tanner asked.

“Um, yeah,” she lied. “I’d love something to eat,” she said. “I only had a yogurt. The kitchen is swamped, and I snuck down to visit my friend Henry to see what I could grab to eat before we headed out.”

“That was pretty brave of you, considering that you could have run into your boss, and he would have probably asked you to work again today,” Declan said.

“Yeah, Claude has tried to call me three times already this morning. I’m just letting his calls go right to voicemail. There is no way I’m falling for any more of his tricks,” Shelby insisted.

“I don’t blame you,” Tanner said. “He sounds like a douche.”

Shelby couldn’t help her giggle. “He is,” she agreed. “If he needs someone to clean today, he can do it.”

“Good for you,” Declan said. “Now, eat up so we can all sneak out of here,” he insisted.

“Geeze, I thought that I was the bossy one,” Tanner griped.

“You both seem to be pretty bossy to me,” Shelby said. “If that’s okay for me to say. I mean, I barely know either of you.”

“It’s fine,” Declan assured. “We’re used to it in our line of work. In the business world, you’re either the boss or you’re not. We both like to consider ourselves the boss, so it just comes naturally.”

“Like the other night when I found you two practically fist fighting in the hallway trying to determine who was in charge?” she asked.

“Right,” Tanner said. “Not one of our finer moments, but we’ll own up to it. We’ve been friends for so long now, we tend to get heated when it comes to how we handle each other. But in the end, Declan will always be my brother, no matter how much he pisses me off.”
