“Same,” Declan said around a mouthful of pancakes. “We’re brothers, through thick and thin.”
Tanner loaded her up a plate of food and handed it to her. “Coffee?” he asked.
“Um, sure,” she said. She watched as he poured her coffee and took the cup from him. “I’m not used to people waiting on me,” she said. “Usually, it’s the other way around. A girl could get used to this,” she teased, pouring cream and sugar into her coffee.
“You should be used to this kind of treatment,” Declan said. “You deserve it, Shelby.”
“Honestly, you both are being so nice to me, and you don’t even know me,” she said.
“Well, that’s what today is for,” Declan said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know you, Shelby,” he said, taking her hand into his own. She wasn’t sure if she should pull it away or not. Honestly, she didn’t want to, so she left her hand in his.
“I am too,” Tanner agreed, taking her other hand into his. She sat between the two of them, letting each of them hold her hands, and she wasn’t sure why, but it felt right.
“Thanks, guys,” she said. “But um, if you want for me to eat so that we can go, you will both need to let go of my hands.” They did and she noticed the way they shot each other a look across the table. Shelby wondered what that was all about, but she wasn’t sure that she was ready for their answer. Instead, she shoved half a crape into her mouth and hummed at how good it tasted.
“I will never get sick of French food,” she said with her mouth still full of food.
“Me either,” Tanner agreed. They finished up their breakfast, talking about all of the sights that they wanted to see today. Poor Declan looked about ready to pop when he informed them that there was no way that they’d be able to see everything that they wanted and that some of it would have to wait for another one of Shelby’s days off. She hated busting his bubble telling him that they were few and far between, so she didn’t.
“Are you excited to explore the city, Tanner?” she asked. He shot Declan another look, and sighed, turning back to her.
“I might have told a small fib when I said that I didn’t know my way around Paris very well. Honestly, I was fishing for an invite. Declan was the person that I was on the phone with when you came into my room and well, I wanted to tag along, so I lied.”
“I see,” she said. “Any other lies you’ve told me?” she challenged.
“Um, not that I can think of,” Tanner assured.
“Why not just come right out and ask me if you could tag along?” she asked.
“Because it’s more than the two of us just wanting to spend the day with you, Shelby,” Declan said. “We both like you and well, we weren’t sure how to tell you.”
“So, you don’t want to show me around Paris?” she asked.
“I do,” Declan said. “Tanner does too, but we were hoping that you’d give us both a chance.”
“A chance at what?” she asked.
“Well,” Tanner started, “to get to know you, for a start. And then, maybe to date you.”
“Wait—you’re both all right knowing that the other one will be dating me too? How will this work? I’ll go out with Tanner on Tuesday and then Declan, I’ll go out with you on Thursday?” She looked between the two of them as though they had lost their minds.
“Not exactly,” Declan said. “Please, just keep an open mind here, Shelby.” She nodded and stared him down as if waiting for him to go on. “We want to share you—together. We like to date women together—at the same time.”
“At the same time?” she repeated. They had lost their minds.
“Yes,” Tanner agreed. “But we don’t really date the women we share. You’re the first woman that we’ve wanted to take out and get to know before, well, you know.”
“Having sex with me—together,” she filled in the blanks for him.
“Yes,” Tanner almost whispered. “I don’t think that you’re looking at this with an open mind and you said that you would, Shelby,” he challenged.
“Just give us a shot here, honey,” Declan begged. “Let’s start with the basics. You said that you liked both of us, right?”
“Yes—I said that you are both super nice and well, yes, I like both of you,” Shelby stammered.
“Good,” Tanner said, “are you attracted to both of us?” he asked.
Shelby could feel her cheeks heat just thinking about how attractive she found both of them. “Yes,” she breathed. “I find you both attractive.”
