“Hey, you two,” Cash said with a relaxed grin. “We were trying to figure out what you said that made Savannah laugh out loud like that.”

“I was telling her about Mrs. Henderson’s baked goods being the top three things I missed while I was deployed,” he said with a small laugh. “She thought I was crazy.”

“That’s because you are,” Savannah countered. “I mean…how can you miss cake more than people?”

“I missed people too,” he reminded her.

“We’ll have to send you home tonight with some leftover cake,” Susannah said. “There’s enough for everyone to take at least a little something home.”

Savannah looked at Cash. “Just know that if this cake is as good as everyone’s saying, I may eat your share tonight.”

But Cash shook his head. “Not tonight. I’m staying here at the old house with everyone for the night. We’re going to have a family sleepover.”

“What?” both Jackson and Savannah asked at the same time.

“We thought it would be fun to sleep here tonight like we used to when we were kids,” Georgia said with a smile that showed she was just a little tipsy. “It’s a good thing Susannah had the rooms available!”

Nodding, Susannah added, “It’s the strangest thing, most weekends we are booked solid, but this one we only had one room reserved. So we were talking about all the things we used to do around the old house when Pops was still alive and how much we used to love to sleep over.”

“And really, it’s the perfect night to do it because we’re all here and it’s been a good day filled with wonderful memories,” Georgia went on. “So we’re going to let your cousins handle most of the cleanup and the rest can wait until tomorrow.” She looked at Cash and Susannah. “Tonight is about family.”

Yeah, Jackson was pretty certain they’d all maybe had a little too much to drink, but he wasn’t going to be the one to point it out. “Well, that sounds like a lot of fun,” he said instead. “Cash, do you need us to go pick up anything for you?”

He shook his head. “It’s all under control. Now you two go and enjoy your night, and I’ll see you at some point tomorrow.”

“Do you need me to come and pick you up?” Savannah asked.

“Absolutely not!” Georgia said, still smiling, which had to be some kind of record. “Beau and I will drive him home after brunch.”

“I thought we were going out on the boat after brunch? Cash and I were talking about that earlier,” Beau chimed in.

“Oh, yes! The boat! The weather is supposed to be absolutely perfect tomorrow,” Georgia agreed before looking up at him and Savannah. “Don’t plan on seeing Cash until after dinner tomorrow. I’m thinking after the boat we’ll grab dinner at the yacht club. So…” She waved them off. “Have fun!”

If Jackson were the suspicious type, he’d say that they were all in on some sort of plan that would allow him and Savannah some time alone. But…

Why am I even worrying about this? We can leave with no guilt now!

Walking around the table, he kissed his aunts goodnight and shook both Colton and Beau’s hands before hugging his father. “Sounds like you’ve got a full and fun schedule all planned.”

Cash winked and murmured, “Make the most of it.”

Yeah. There was a plan.

Savannah wished them all a good night before the two of them walked around the yard saying goodnight to all his cousins. Austin and Mia left earlier because she was exhausted, so once they made their way through the house—grabbing his secret cupcake stash and the champagne—they were completely on their own.

“So…did you have a good time today?” They walked to his car and he held the door for her. When he climbed in beside her, he caught her studying her hands. “Savannah?”

“That was the first wedding I’ve ever been to,” she quietly replied.

“Seriously?”

“Yup. I’ve never been invited to one before, so…um…it was nice.”

So many things in that statement tore at his heart, but more than anything, he wanted to distract her and do something to put a smile on her face.

“Well, if I do say so myself, we put on a good wedding in Magnolia Sound,” he said with an abundance of pride—like he was personally responsible for it. “It’s always fun when it’s more of an all hands on deck sort of thing. It makes it more personalized and all that good stuff.”

She looked at him as she shook her head and laughed. “Really?”
