“Damn.” He stroked his chest, feeling her words like a machete to his heart. “You don’t care about a nigga no more?”

“I will always care about you, Blaze, but that’s it. We aren’t together anymore, remember?”

Massaging his temple, Blaze sat on the edge of the bed. “In that case, I guess I’ll see you in a couple of hours.”

“Cool.”

Disconnecting the call, Blaze tried to process how he was feeling. He was glad he didn’t have to lie to her about where he was, but that was a clear indication that she really wanted nothing to do with him anymore romantically. There was a time when she would have called him pissed the hell off, but that morning? She sounded like she was at peace. For a brief moment, Blaze had to be honest with himself and consider if she was better off without him, but he was too selfish to think about it for too long.

After shooting Clynisha a text telling her to come to him, Blaze laid back down. He could have hopped around the room without his crutches, but he was trying to heal as quickly as he could and didn’t want to take any chances.

It took several minutes, but eventually, Clynisha entered the room with his crutches. She looked beautiful, as always. Her long Brazilian bundles went down to her ass. Blaze had no idea why she wore weave because her natural hair was long and thick. Maybe it was because she liked to switch up her style. Either way, Clynisha always looked good.

Her skin was light, but she didn’t look like her father was white. Thanks to her personal trainer and strict eating habits, Clynisha had built a body that was to die for. All the beauty, booty, and money in the world wasn’t enough to satisfy a man like Blaze, though. A man who wasn’t even satisfied withhimself.

“Good morning, husband,” she greeted with a sly smile.

“Good morning. Why are you in a good mood?”

Clynisha laughed as she walked over to the bed and sat next to him. “I have to have a reason?”

“Yeah, so wassup?”

“I’m just happy you’re home,” she confessed, running her fingers against his thigh. “Cooper is making us breakfast in about thirty minutes. I wanted to give you a bath first. I had my doctor to bring some pain medicine over because I wasn’t sure what you were taking and if you had yours, so it’s downstairs as well.”

Blaze eyed her skeptically, causing her to laugh and stand. His eyes lowered to her ass as she headed for the bathroom in a form fitting black dress that came down to her ankles.

“Why are you looking at me like that, Blaze?” she asked over her shoulder.

“Because you’re up to something and I don’t know what.”

“Why do you feel like I’m up to something?”

“Because you’re being nice.”

Clynisha cackled but didn’t reply as she cut the water on. Scheme or not, Blaze wasn’t going to turn down being catered to, and Clynisha knew that. When she informed him that his bath was ready, Blaze stood and slowly made his way to the bathroom. Its gold walls matched the rest of the room. He walked over to the oval-shaped tub in the center of the bathroom, where Clynisha was waiting for him. She stood and helped him undress, being extra careful with his immobilizer and boxers.

“Awww, poor baby,” she cooed at the sight of his leg. Every time he looked, he had to shake his head, knowing that would be a round scar that would be there for the rest of his life. Worse, the party that the shooting occurred at wasn’t even live enough for the trouble.

“If you want me to actually get in the water, I’m going to have to change the dressing over the hole,” he told her, lowering himself to feel the temperature of the water.

“Whatever you need,” Clynisha agreed, getting another skeptical look out of him.

Clynisha helped him down and bathed him as she said she would. Once it was over, she helped him back to the bed, where she dried him off and greased him down with the Vaseline he loved but she hated. She went downstairs to get the pain medicine and wraps for the wound. Kneeling, she held the white bandage over his wound. Her eyes remained locked on his as she slammed the bandage down onto the wound.

Blaze yelled out instantly, pulling his leg back and away from her grip. Throbbing, the hole immediately began to bleed. As he bit down on his lip and groaned, it took everything in him to keep from smacking theshitout of Clynisha.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” he yelled, getting even more irritated at the sight of her smirk.

“I went through your phone while you were sleep and saw all your text messages on that app with the bitch you got pregnant. Didn’t I tell you not to have any more kids on me, Blaze?”

“I took care of that,” he assured through gritted teeth. “She’s not pregnant anymore.”

“What did you do?”

“All you need to know is that I took care of it. Jacintha will never be a problem for us.”

Clynisha stared at him for seconds on end. “She’d better not be. I accepted you having kids before me, but I will not tolerate you getting someone else pregnant.” After tossing the pills into his lap, Clynisha stood. “Take as many as you want. If you die, I get to keep my money.” Her smile widened as she sashayed out of the room.
