He looked to me, his icy blue eyes wide and desperate.

He didn’t want to die today, and I didn’t want him to, not atPredatorhands, at least.

“Get your guys and get the fuck outta here, Jake,” I told him. “And don’t venture into any of our shit again.”

He didn’t hesitate.

Neither Onyx nor I said a word as he scrambled down the hall, stopping to gather one of his people; the noise we’d heard down the hall. Moments later, they’d stumbled outside, in full view of the window as they woke the other two from their “naps” and hopped on their bikes to peel off.

It was a wonder they were even able, looking at the state of Onyx’s hands and clothes.

“Every situation doesn’t require a barbaric approach, you know?” I asked, turning away from the window. “Was finesse even a consideration for you?”

“My vice president was outnumbered and alone.” He shrugged, wiping the back of his hand on his jeans. “So… no.”

I rolled my eyes, trying to shake off the reality of his words. Would Jake have done anything to me? Probably not.

But the chancesweren’tzero.

“What are you even doing here?” I asked, trying to shift the subject. “Did you follow me?”

He shook his head. “No. I was told to report to you, couldn’t find you, so I asked Keira where you were. She said you were here, so I came here.”

“Who told you to report to me?”

“Ozzy.”

I nodded.

Ozias wasourRoad Captain, and if Brandon hadn’t taken Onyx on their run, the next best thing that made sense was sending him to me for marching orders.

But that didn’t make me any happier to be bothered.

“Where’s your bike?” I asked, suddenly realizing mine was the only one still parked out front.

“Safe.”

I met his gaze, eyes narrowed, already knowing there was no point in challenging his none answer.

Whatever.

“Clean up whatever mess you’ve made here, then clean yourself up. I’m going back toBottoms.”

Bottoms Upwasright on the outskirts of Vegas and had a reputation. We were open to everybody and caught a steady stream of curious tourists and ninety-nine percenters with no interest in smoke. Occasionally there was a ruckus; especially if people got mixed up in some shit they hadn’t expected because they didn’t know better.

The regulars knew to give the club members a wide berth.

These other folks though…

Well, there was a reason I got a text from Keira giving me a heads up that a swarm ofPredatorswere coming in hot.

“They’re on the way,” I relayed to a couple of servers Keira hadn’t already notified, and they knew what to do; make sure the people who weren’t trying to be around for whatever energy thePredatorswere bringing with them… weren’t around.

I stopped to tell a group of glammed up women wearing sashes and tiaras. “Hey, we’ve got a bit of a rough crowd coming through.”

The one withthe brideemblazoned diagonally across her barely-there dress blinked at me, then flipped a handful of waist-length, impressively straight tresses over her shoulder. “Good, that’s exactly why we came, sis!” she announced, earning a chorus of sorority calls from the women surrounding her. “We was waiting on themat the doe!”

Surprised, I grinned. “You sure? ’Cause um… I know a few motherfuckers that are gonna see your impending title across your chest and that ring on your finger and consider it a challenge.”
